bet your arse it has lots of polies, about 9800 , i could cut off some more but that would mean visible quality loss ;/

Are you talking about the CSS Virginia or the USS Monitor, because there is no CSS Ironclad. The Virginia also matches the hull form very well.

Her christened name was the C.S.S. Virginia, Mackie. She had no class name; the Virginia was a one-off design built off a scuttled Union frigate hull. 'Ironclad' was not a class of ship- think of it more as a designator like battleship, carrier, or frigate. It discribes ships as diverse as the C.S.S. Virginia and U.S.S. Mointor, and even including such ocean-going ships as the Royal Navy's H.M.S. Warrior and the French La Gloire.

Great ship- I like the way that it looks... that "BFGothic" feel really adds to it. And the 'large bays' would be an absolute necessty, what with this being before transporters and not standing a chance in hell of landing. The bigger, the better; it looks more like a Marine assault ship to me than it does anything else.

hm. thank you, now i know :)
basically I saw a movie called 'Sahara' where some ironclad managed to get africa and got there. thought it looked cool so i googled for ironclad. and saw pics of the same metal beast. since then i had wanted to kitbash something similar but never got good enough results so i decided to start modeling it my self :P

heres a shot of whole ship now (no you cant see the bottom turrets right now since theyre out of the view but theyre still there)
ive also made up my mind on the names

Class: Triumph des Willens
ships names:
Triumph des Willens, Kriegschrei, Angreifer and Scharfrichter. (Triumph of the will, Warcry, Aggressor and Executioner)
(yeah i broke the 10k limit when i redid the bridge and its tower but keep in mind the ships yet to be optimized/polycut)

She's looks terrific so far Mackie, and I'm hoping the final result will be ready sooner than you've inferred - excellent job!  ;D

well here it is and its done. 9975 polys which i think is alright when taking into consideration how smooth the thing is,  how many details on it and most of my all my bad optimization skills ;P

Mackie ...

Dude ...  that's one good model.  There's no tellin' where could do with that kind of ability ....

this model proves it.

I kinda wish I could talk ya into designing a new VERY late TNG Fed Space station.  I've seen a couple that were pretty cool ...  but I still dont have just what I'm looking for.

I will DL this ship this as soon as it's available.  ( I'm on dial up and it takes forever .... so just before bed I'll snag this one)

honestly my abilities are not that good , as you may or may not see that ship is made out entirely of boxes, cylinders and spheres which of all have been cut and modified several times ;D

It works doesn't it ?

Tell ya what ..  I'll post my little sketch on a seperate thread ...  see what ya think.
