Title: Server Admin Rewards
Post by: Hexx on August 19, 2005, 02:28:57 pm
I was contemplating the nuances of actually admining a D2 server and I came to
one conclusion.
It doesn't pay enough -I mean I personally ran a tiny bit of Mirror before having a ton of Rl stuff hit me and
(without telling him) having to dump it in DH's hands.
(of course having heard rumours of where those hands have been I wept for my server   )

Anyway I think that server admins should receive a sort of "tithe" from you lackwits for the privilege of
playing on a server they worked on.
I would propose that 5%  of all prestige earned on a server be transferred to the account of the server admin.
To be used for whatever he feels like flying. Also it should give admins the chance to come up with
some really intriguing idea, as the more people play the more prestige he earns.

Actually when I said "admin" I meant "me"
Been having a tough time finding time to fly and I think it's a
crime against humanity that I can't afford a big ship.
<sigh>

Guess I'll have to use one of those CWLX's... how sad.

I'd be happy just to be able to connect with most players. Why these connection problems are only happening on D2 and not on SWG is beyond me. :help:

I HATE DSL!!

I HATE ROUTERS!!

I bought one of the New Linksys routers for like $50 recently, I run in a DMZ and other than that, I've done no configuration changes at all other than setting up wireless.

Works like a charm, you might consider this if things are that frustrating.

I did the admin thingy myself before ..  OY !

Are you sure that a private bank account ( exact resources undetermined)  wouldn't be more appropriate?

(Ol Buzzard looks around the room ...  notices it is extremely quiet ....  )

OOPS  !  ( I think I'll just quietly sneak out the back door while I still can !)

I've A-B-S-O-L-U-T-E-L-Y had enough of this DSL/router business, so I just used my DSL provider's backup dialup account and the connections problems are gone. Plus, this solution is free. ;D

Whacks DSL modem and Linksys BF41SR router with rubber chicken 20 million times. :banghead: :banghead:
