Years ago, about Three of them, I had started a Relationship with a General who was operating out of Burns Flat Oklahoma. Today, I finally managed to get him to agree to answer some Questions about our Space Tech. and Having the first Space port in the world.
At this time, I would offer to you , My Fellow Taldrenites, The oppertunity to ask him questions, and I will post the answers here. I ask of you all to Help me with this online Interview, and Hopefully we can all grow from this experience. I will Take questions for about three days, Before I send them off too him and his secretary Kim.

Have we considered one-way manned exploration missions? (I think we should)
Why is the space station not a construction platform? (It seems more a product development platform)
Have we considered genetically engineering astronauts? (I think we should)
How many of the unsheilded reactors in orbit pose a threat on re-entry? Could we retrieve obsolete ones to improve earth based radio astronomy?
Are any non-electromagnetic astrometrics or communications being researched?
What about Gravity Probe B, do we have results or is it flawed as I expected?
What is this "spaceport", is there a real need for it, or is it just for PR?

With the recent news stories about rocket fuel showing up in the food chain, do you expect the increased number of launches that will obviously come about due to privitization to cause environmental agencies such as the EPA to get involved with space travel?
Too be honest, this is a very good Question. I'm sure you all here can come up with more.

Christ, I've always wanted an opportunity like this, and can't think of anything to ask now...
On a future mission to Mars, or a lenghty Lunar Stay, how do they plan to deal with the build up of regolith that was causing problems by the end of the three day stays of the last three Apollo Missions? Would storms on Mars that would kick up a lot of regloith pose a threat to equipment?
Are NASA seriously looking at a shuttle replacement with any urgency now that China are looking to be destined for the moon and Russia are starting up a space tourist industry? If Bush is going to screw the pooch on funding, are they going to look for private revenue?
Given the number of near misses in recent times with NEO's, is there any viable plan to deflect an asteroid on a collision course?
Are there any plans for exploration of Europa with a view to finding liquid water?

Just another thought... The Apollo time lag for communications between the Earth and Moon was 1.3 seconds, the time taken for EM signals to travel a quarter of a million miles... Given that Mars is much further away, it seems obvious that on a Mars mission this problem, instead of being a mild irritation like the Trans Lunar Delay, will become a serious nuisance...
My question is, given that there will be much more autonomy needed from mission control, what kind of staffing levels, space and air purification would one be looking at for a Mars mission?
And medicine? What if someone developed epilepsy or diabetes half way between Earth and Mars?

I think there is one already on the books.... can't remember though

Are we looking into more efficient propellants and more efficient ways of storing them and breathable air, as well as food, for extended manned flights, for example to Mars?
Do we have an idea of better radiation shielding to protect our extended voyage astronauts?
What type of emergency equipment and procedures are present or are being developed for emergencies?
Do we have plans for "way stations" that will assist or enable extended space flights?

the computers used on teh Shuttle and on Apollo were rugged and simple... Will this philosphy be used on more ambitious missions (eg. to Mars) where simple un-networked computeres will be used for flight control? I should think this would be wise...

Space tech is a joke; people in general are too stupid to stop wasting money and resources, instead of funnelling all the energy and money into studying space. As its said, you can learn so much of yourself by studying your environment, ours beng the natural universe.
Bonk has stupendous questions, let me add in possibly- what is the honest-to-god level of funding that will be put into NASA? Any new priority? Or, is this the only American organization he is referring to?
