nventor turns dead cats into diesel

A German inventor says he's found a way to make cheap diesel fuel out of dead cats.

Dr Christian Koch, 55, from Kleinhartmannsdorf, said his method uses old tyres, weeds and animal cadavers.

Is this an urban myth kind of thing or is this serious?  :-\

It's serious.  There is a plant in Kansas City doing the same thing with Turkey guts from slaughter houses.

It's a process called Thermal Depolymerization, and actually can be used to make toxic waste safe, with the byproduct of light, sweet crude.

[snippet] The new technology also promises profitability. "We've done so much testing in Philadelphia, we already know the costs," Appel said. "This is our first out plant, and we estimate we'll make oil at fifteen dollars a barrel. In three to five years, we'll drop that to ten dollars, the same as a medium-size oil exploration and production company. And it will get cheaper from there."

This is a variation on the  process where they take the used french fry grease from the golden arches and turn it into bio-diesel.

And we will always have those critics like:

"Annelise Krauss of the Dresden Animal Protection Association blasted Koch's new diesel though, saying: "This is as bad as experimenting on animals."

Just to make my point. ;D
