ready for mapping and clothes

You da man Antivyrus !!!! Ok who's going to texture this one ?
-
What kinda warps you use there?
my own design based on the Yamamoto's original texture
-
Thats a damn nice looking mesh! Keep it up :D
Ok what you are doing is basicly rebuilding the Taldron Yamato BB. The conjectural TOS "Yamamoto" was just a name i coughed up to distingiush it from the Yamato. It is a different class altogether. The Yamato is the original SFB ship, and i based the yamamoto off of it. So no more name confusing lol.
-
Great stuff AV!!
(sorry I was not feeling so hot last night !)
keep this comming !

Ugh... This reminds me, I really need to find the disc I had my SFC1 Yamato in (I found it whilst clearing out my HD; my computer's going to go kaput sooner or later and my HD data with it if I don't continue doing so), then figure out what to do with it. Perhaps I'll upload it to Battleclinic or something, but I wonder where DD is (I'd rather ask permission first if I can).
But you're doing a good job there. I like the added model detail to the Yamato-class.
-
Yee Haaa!
USS Goliath, cometh!

For what it is worth...
This is the only reference image I've ever seen for the Yamato.
I remember that picture since 1999 or 2000, seemed like an edit of the conceptual art of KA. Remember though that you hotlinked that image, so it won't work by linking to it or displaying the image. So for those who haven't seen it, copy the following onto your browser's URL thingy:
http://www.shipschematics.net/startrek/images/federation/battleship_yamato.jpg
Also, here're my collages of screenshots (that I displayed in this thread (http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163359759.30.html)) from in-game Klingon Academy:
Yamato Collage 01 (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y91/JA_PC92/Yamato1.jpg)
Yamato Collage 02 (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y91/JA_PC92/Yamato2.jpg)
Yamato Collage 03 (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y91/JA_PC92/Yamato3.jpg)
I haven't heard back from DD concerning how he prefers his mods treated as (in other words, permission stuff I believe to be necessary), so I might not upload any models he ported from KA that I have...
-
to clear up any further confusion this is the SFC NOT KA model that I base this mesh off of. I was told it was the stock model(which to me means that it came with the game). If I was misinformed then I apologize.
-
I wish my attempt at remaking the Yamato had gotten this far. Unfortunately, it's one of the many meshes on my hard drive that will probably never be finished.
-
I thought it worth noting that the upper roll bar is attached to the secondary hulls as opposed to the saucer.
No it's really attached to the saucer, if you look at CJ's collages from KA they show the original design, that shipschematics 'thing' looks like someones allowed a 5 year old to draw the schematics based off of a very small pic of the KA Yamato and then blurred the resulting image with vaseline, there's another schematic on shipschematics that does a similar thing to my beloved Lexington class. ::)
@ Antivyrus: don't worry about the confusion, the Yamato is the stock BB for both SFC and KA, the SFC model was made by reducing the poly count and texture detail of the KA version. I think you've done a marvelous job recreating the Yamato and hope we'll see it textured soon.
-
Looking good, no matter what it's based off of. ;D
-
Yes! Someone finally tackles one of my favorite ships, good work!!

Check the Permissions thread Chris that should clear up DD stance on his models.

I tried, DD's name isn't on the list. Patience is a virtue though, and I can wait. I guess because I tend to just stay around here that I don't know what he's exactly up to and how he's doing in life. I'd like to think he was the one that got me into Stargate...
Back on-topic, I have a question to Antivyrus: Will the textures that'll be used be modified stock textures, or will they be completely new?
-
I have a question to Antivyrus: Will the textures that'll be used be modified stock textures, or will they be completely new?
no the stock textures wont be used because they are such low res, but I wish to base the new textures on the stock one at least for this model I have several variants coming that can be textured how ever some one wants to. Which brings me to the BIG question I'm almost done with the texture templates and because I'm not a very good painter I need to know if anyone out there is willing to do the job?
-
if no one else will ...
I'll take a look at it. We'll have to keep up the work on SB777 as well.
-
thanks Buzz that works for me but let the SB777 take priority
-
i hope someone does it :flame: it looks great so far :drinkinsong:
-
sweet.

update:
Map template is complete and she'll soon be getting a set clothes thanks to OlBuzzard
-
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v165/superbee/arf.gif)
-
Can I do the registries? Or at the very least get a set of the textures without registries so I can make a registry pack?
-
Please release this soon. It looks cool.
-
Bump for news.
-
I have it on good authority that she's already being textured, and such a process takes time. Every ship is a unique lady, which each lady having her own unique grace, and a set of clothes must be properly tailored to show off the best parts of said lady.

Typical woman.
Always taking too long to get ready........ ;D

Hehehehe I know what you know what I know, ya know? But yes I can confirm this lil lady is in the dressing room.
-
Consider me kicking the door to the dressing room. Hopefully that was a sturdy door :o
(Bump, in other words)
-
*aims a phaser rifle at Norsehound's head and says* Yep, that was a sturdy door. Hopefully you've got a deep wallet. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!
Oh, by the way, this isn't the dressing room. IT'S MY QUARTERS!!!!!!!!!
Oh, and this is another bump.
-
Don't tell me this made it to page 2 already... otherwise it was just your excuse to stick a TNG prop in my face in a mock threat :P :D
-
ok ok here's the long awaited update
thanks to OlBuzzard, who btw is doing a wonderful job
-
Ooooooooooooooooooo aaaaahhhhhhhhh. Looking good guys.
-
Outstanding! I can barely wait for this one.
-
The prospect of a hi-res battleship is, to say the least, awesome!
My only complaints are the selection of the engine front grills and the bridge... but that's what retexture jobs are for :D
-
*drools* Must.... have...... shiiiiiippppp.....
-
more teaser shots
-
Very clean, very sleak. Personally I'd like to see more "panel" detail, but none-the-less a great job !!!!
-MP
-
Where are the shuttlebays?
-
Please tell me this baby will also be scaled for SFC III.
-
I can hardpoint here for SFC3 and write up specs as well. But I hardpoint models after a model has been textured, so that the weapons come out more or less where they're supposed to.
-
I'm headed down the home stretch ...
but ..
for weapons:
Torp tubes (forward and aft) .. how many ?
Phaser banks ( located on primary hull only per TMP specs ) how many?.
We almost have the windows done. After that it's only the registry and a few details .. then AV will do the light maps.
If all goes well we should have this done by the weekend.
-
My prefs?
Torpedo 'boxes' are like the Miranda launchers- two tubes each, with the capability to load and fire more photons from those tubes.
As for phasers- do the excelsor thing and splay them out from the bridge... maybe seven on each side of the saucer.
-
My suggestion: Keep it as close to the stock design as possible, keeping in mind at least the stats given for this ship in the SFC series (and/or KA). For KA, as far as her specs go, they are this:
U.S.S. Yamato - NX-5628
Yamato-class (experimental) Battleship Specs:
Length: 854 meters
Mass: 1,870,000 metric tonnes
Crew: 1,200
Marines: 90
Maximum Impulse: 1,230 kellicams per second
Hull Rating: 9.4
Shield Rating: 198.3
Maneuverability Rating: .25/.07 1,300
WEAPONS:
Fore: 6 Phasers, 4 Photons, 2 Ph4-equivalent Phasers ("Assault Phasers")
Aft: 6 Phasers, 2 Photons
Port/Starboard: 4 Phasers each
Model-wise, if any plans are to modify the model, I believe there's no need; it looks good enough. Even replacing the launchers with Miranda-class-style Torpedo launchers (appearence-wise) would take away from the design and bring it closer to normal kitbash-esque designs of that era. This design differentiated from the traditional simple kitbashing of the ships of that era. Although it somewhat seems to be like a kitbash with two hulls, there's a lot of uniqueness in the design, even though it has some Excelsior-class design influences. In an era where fans just take from the canon designs and kitbash rather than find uniqueness that can still fit into the era, the Yamato-class, although not the prettiest battleship around (and not a part of traditional Starfleet design lineage), still is quite unique. I think the design should stay as is.
With that said, I think the model and texture progress is going very well so far. My only pet peeve is the blue "stripe" around the rim of the saucer; It looks uneven. I realize though that the textures are still a WIP, but wanted to point that out.
-
Thanks bud .. I will review this closely tonight (weapons).
Also ... you are right about the "blue stripe" being uneven .. And if ya look closely so are the windows in that area. I worked on that last night ... and added a 2nd row as well. Hopefully, that has been fixed. I do appreciate the input, any other serious issues like that needs to be pointed out. We also started to detail the textures, but I was afraid that if we did too much it would get away from the TMP textures (or aztecs). The textures you see there is just something we put togeather as best we could ( first time for TMP scratch built stuff). I'm still working on Aztec development, but finally making some head way.
thanks for the help.

Not a problem. And if you've been thinking of taking a KA-esque route into her specs, I'd say have a little influence of SFC into it as well, considering in any SFC game this FBB didn't have any PH4 weaponry (but did have those Hydran Gatling Phasehs [PhG], and in SFC2 and OP she had some fighters).

hmmm yup .. I remember the gatling phasers. a lot of the time those were located even on warp nacelles (seems like). I don't suppose you can fire up the old OP game ... go into the "skirmish" mode .... custom battle ... look up this bad boy and do a screenie of the weapons and post it. (I'm still at work ... and will be for at least another hour). That would save me some time so I can get straight to work on this when we get home.
Thanks
-
I'd have to reinstall OP first though, but I guess I can do that tonight. I'll also reinstall KA and show the hardpoints for the weapons, then probably upload that SFC1 KA FBB port DD did that I said I would but forgot to (If I remember correctly he did give me permission, just need to find it, zip it up with a made text file and upload it somewhere)... Don't have the time right now though, but will later. Just getting ready for something important at the moment.
-
OKIE...
check here first ... If no one else comes up with the weapons, and arcs I'll see if this ship is in the last OP server kit I uploaded a few months ago. I can't remember if it was .. or if they changed the load-outs on it, etc, etc.
In any case .. I'll be on MSN as well. Check to see if we already have the info.
thanks again for the assistance.
-
Since OP is better than any pure paramount created material, I still have OP on my comp.
Gimme a few minutes, I should have this badboy's SSD up.
Triva: Even though all the races in SFC have Battleships; 'Historicly', only the Klingon B-10 was the only battleship to ever see service in the General War. Two of them were used in fighting the andomedan invasion, and the boom of a third was used (and lost) in the defense of Klingzai.
Not sure if the sidebar weapons count is accurate to any degree. The patch messes with it, and this is an unpatched version.
Forward detail with weapons arcs described. Notice the phaser banks located on either side of the regestry number, and another pair futher back. There is also another one (on the top) located just behind the regestry number.I think (never played KA) the three slots in the top are where the megaphasers are. But, since SFC doesn't beleive in Megaphasers, you might as well convert them to normal ones.
It is also my hope that you can correct the nacelles based on this pic.
I hope you can also add the missile launcher, which does not exist on the stock KA model. I also hope you add a rendered shuttlebay... it's at the back between the hulls.
Trivia: The proposed C-10(?) by SPP on starfleet battles' forums is a B-10 boom mated with a C-8 aft hull.
Trivia: There is a B-10T: B-10 Tug version.
-
If you're trying to figure out weapon placement, why not just import the stock FBB model and use the hardpoint dummy objects from it? That's what I did with my stock ship replacement models.
-
When it comes to SFC3, She'll have to be hardpointed a little differently, at least that's what I am anticipating. Buzz, you're doing the hardpointing for SFC3, or no? If not, I'll take my hand at it if you want me to. I'd love to try at this bad boy.
-
Norshound
I have a copy of the low res model. The current model that is being textured will not follow the same design. The front of the nacelles will have very little change. In fact if can find a good pict of the Enterprise I will examine it closer and follow that (maybe).
Also weapons:
I have noted in the game there are :
15 phs 1's
3 phs g's
10 torps (8 forward)
fixing the phasers is no biggie. But the 8 forward torps ? There are only 4 forward tubes. I will have to review the model as it is now and see what needs to be done.
More later

I could not have written any better commentary. Well done everyone.
Qapla!

Yeah CJ's stats work for me ;D

Why not use the torp launchers and saucer from WZ's Ulysses class. That would look cool.

shameless bumb back to the front page ;D

Nothing shameless about it.

Registry Time ...
USS YAMATO
NCX-5628-V
is this correct ?
-
Sounds about right.
I'd say some nice screenshots would be in order.
-
USS YAMATO
NCX-5628-V
Add the three dots on the U.S.S., take out the C and -V in the registry, and I'd say you got the concept right. I'm not sure why Taldren added those when they ported the ship...
Although if you're going for the SFC registry, that's accurate.

that was what I suspected ... Since the model is more SFC related ... I think I'll do the full registry as posted.
as for pitcs ...
wellllll heheh I'll see what I can do !
AV is the chief engineer on this project. I'll post a few picts .. all subject to his approval.

Take my word for it Buzz, I don't think he'll have a problem with you posting shots. :-D
