Mind yopu, I'm usually the last person to be down on games, and I'll even be the first to admit, I usually like Microsoft games. That being said, AOE3 was a waist of my money. Mind you, the upgraded graphics are nice, and the ability to Make friends with the Native Americans are very cool, But the game play is well, too easy. I ran through the single player campaign in about 6-7 hours.
Way to short a game, and I'm not the best RTS player out there to say the least. The difficulty in AOE2 was actually harder. Now don't get me wrong, If your a fan of the game, By all means grab It, but IMHO, I'd save your money, and Get It further down the road when the price drops.

Strange, I've played AOE's for ages and thought AOE3 pwnd hard :/
-
Did you really? I loved the first couple of AOE's myself. It could just be me, But this newer one just Didn't seem Challanging to me. Once again though, It's just my opinion, and I've been wrong before.

Its not exactly easier per se, its just easier to control aka play from the users end. Just dont try playing with any other settings than the hardest ;D
And oh yeah, if you still got your AOE2 and MSN, You could join me and my friends for a game or two (Direct IP) :)

You bet I do, Heck I even have the Expansion. Hell, I'd love to play a few games with Friends from here. Heck, I'm even game for Age of Mithology if anyone wants to Jump in. Of course, It will be interesting to see how my Sat con works on an RTS. I know I can't play the game we all know and love SFC online because of the lag.

Well er, we all do have the expansion, rather obviously. Having the game without it is bit like have a penix without teh b4lls. ;D
However, we dont have AOM, Ive been trying to get my hands on a copy but it seems like a mission quite impossible :/
And oh yeah, the 'we' im talking are me and a few other guys from my town. Everyone has least 1meg ADSL :)
AOE2 is fairly lag tolerant, its quite playable even with pings like 100-200 :)

LOl, well I'm Diffenatly In then. I'll jump over to your sight, and we will make the arangements then. Hell It would be nice to meet some more of your Friends. Hell you and I may have never been in 100% agreement, but there was always respect between us. And that goes a long ways for this Okie.

I bought AOE 3, played it for a couple of hours when I brought it home, and haven't fired it up since. Actually, the last few games I've bought have been like that. I'm a college kid with no job at the moment, it might be a good idea to quit blowing 40-50 bucks on games I play once, LOL. ::)

AOE3 was BORING.. Its main saving grace was the cheat code that gives you an indestructable Monster Truck... man... some programmer there had a sense of humor.
-
That truck was kinda fun. ;D I have to admit, I am still getting a kick out of Dragon Shard though. Let me know If you want It back though.
Stephen waiting on Oblivian.

If you like it, it's yours. It was one of those "I'll only play it once" games.
-
Well thanks Andy, I appreciate that. Same thing for you and AOE3 then, Or If you have a friend who might enjoy It better then we did.

If you want to be able to make friends with the the Indins, why not just play Rise of Nations with the Thrones and Patriots expansion. The graphics are better, the tech developments actually make sense, and it's just an all-around kick-ass game.

the AOE series is all about multiplayer.
Its like complaining the bots in Quake 3 suck.
Anyway, I have aoe2... but my conquerer's expansion was stolen.
I have proof that I bought it (box, and maybe CD case, as well as strategy guide).. so if someone was so kind as to send me an iso I would appreciate it.
if that last sentence is inappropiate please delete it mods... however I believe it is legal as I own the license to play the game

I downloaded the demo, and it sucks. AoE II is a deeper game. This is sorta like the CivII vs. CivIII thing. Fancy graphics don't mean jack if the game itself sucks.
BTW: I just started playing AoEII and is there some secret solution to the Joan of Arc campaign besides petards? I beat my head against the wall for the better part of a week trying to get out of the Loire scenario before I just swamped the English castles with petards. I'd prefer to use kniggets, archers, and siege weapons, but then, I'm old fashioned and petards almost feel like a cheat.
