Actually I don't have the game, I was just doing some research for the Admins and other Mods. seeing IF a subforum would be benificial or not. Too be honest, I think It might just need It's own thread, rather then a subforum. Of course, If It changes with the add on coming out, we will reconsider I'm sure. Of course that's just my opinion, It would be up to the Admins.

Well as i mentioned in my other thread they have a free trial weekend for factions, all ya have to do is dled the game from their site and use the key they give you for the trial period this weekend. its ends tommorrow nite midnit pst so ya only have 1 more day ;)

is starting up a new toon in GW, whats the best subclass to take? I am makeing my first class as a Ranger. (and when we going to see the guild from here started so we can help each other out in the game?)

thats the cool part about GW, there is no best subclass, it all comes down to personal taste. However i would recommend using a necormancer subclass, its fun ;)

Right now my only character is a Warrior/Monk, I'm having a lot of fun with it right now solo-farming out in Augury Rock. If you need help you can usually find me there during the afternoon, just look for the character named Allisa Javora.

If you all want to start a guild, I'd be happy to sticky a thread for you so you can Get together etc. I'll try and get the game later myself, right now, lyrekiller has me hooked on Freelancer though, then I have promised FerritLXIX to get in on some Civ4.

well just post your character name and i'll add ya ;). we could use some active members really, our problem is we don't recruit activly like other guilds, we just sorta help each other out is all (it would be cool to finally be able to do some guild matches ;), but thats not our top priority)

I liked SWGalaxies, but it was FAR too time-intensive. I'm looking for something that I can play on and off and enjoy rather than devote mass amounts of time to in order to level up. I wish that there was a crafting profession... but oh, well, you can't have everything. :)

i only play on the weekends, maybe for 3 - 4 hours at the most. not alot of time when compared to most MMORPG (though this one is slightly different, as its only MMORPG in towns, outside of them it consists of you and your party, either AI or human)

Your Character is going to need to collect the following items for armor creation:
Tanned Hide Squares
Bolts of Linen
Bolts of Cloth
Scales
Silk
Bone
Wood Planks
Steel Ingots
Fur Squares (Charr Hides)
The number of items can be cut down depending on what type(s) of armor you decide to use but for now until you figure things out I would hold on to as much as you can. Like I discussed earlier, keep as many charr hides as you can, those are needed for fur squares and also for extra bags that you can get once you go post.
My question for you (and everyone else here playing this game) is do you plan on doing any player vs player matches. If you do then I suggest going post as soon as you can. Once you go post I'll try to get you a run to Droknar's Forge for some good armor. That will make you almost unbeatable in the Ascolon Arena. IMHO I think it would be kind of cool to see SFC kicking some PvP butt, although you all may not be in to all of that. Either way I'll try to help out any way I can.

I've been playing Guildwars since the beta weekend events, great game and i can't wait for the expansion due out in spring.

I have seen what I think is the Chasm, and I click on it for about 30 minutes, but I can't enter that area. I know I have the right access key also, as I got the Nightfall free play thingie when I ordered it.
Man I hope I can get this figured out, as on the main storyline, I'm still stuck at the Temple quest, where you have to release 8 souls.

to answer your question.. Yes there is a quest to complete before moving into the new area of GW.. i know this cuase my wife plays GW everyday. Although i was offered an account with like 10 or more random race/class lvl 20 toons. i still have to pass on GW.
I'm on the darker side of MMO's
Since my last visit I've Beta tested Lord of the rings online from alpha to release.. quit a couple months ago cause it's just way to easy.
ANyways.. i'm opt'ing to give up all MMO's for Pirates of the Burning sea Comming soon to a Port near you. (with cannons blazing)
Like the SFC series it is totlaly based on player skill with use of the weapons on the ship. Which should give the thrills of SFC once again.
And a big kudos to FLS for actually taking the time it takes to make a great game. Yay!

Yeah I think Sidious is right, you get the quest from one of the Guards. I've done it in both LA and Kamadan so I'm not sure about Factions. It's easier to get to EN from Kamadan then it is from LA as the monsters are higher level in LA.

Yeah I finally figured it out, It was my error. I had added the code from the sign in page, instead of the edit account page. Still haven't found the special Pre-Order weapons though, but I'm having a blast.

If you pre-ordered Gwen - type /bonus when you're logged in as any of your characters - the bonus items will appear in your inventory (customized for your character).

Boy aint that the truth. The other day she wanted to try this thing called Role Playing, so she dressed up in this school girls uniform, and said, I've been Naughty. So I took off my belt, and smacked her once, and Yelled, If you don't get of the Dope and get your College GPA at least up to 3.8, I'm cutting you off.

What if you don't have heros and the henchies mm they need a protection Monk hench as the healer is worse than Alesia.I know you can get thru it really easy now but think back when you first did it with no heros.Most groups don't like smiters

Satilite Connection. AKA add at least 600-1000ms pingtime.
Which mission is being problematic? Vizunah Square is the one with 2 full parties (one from Local Quarter, one from Foreign). Tannakhai Temple is the one where you have to save the 8 spirits from Shiro's posession, ending with Vizu.
One way to make nearly every mission eaiser (requires either GW:EotN or Nightfall) is to use a hero Minion Master.

Tha Tannaki Temple mission is where I got stuck on Factions. I went ahead and am playing through Nightfall right now with a Paragon/Ranger. I called her Denny with a stick.

Thanks Rob, I have two ebony and two Bleeding, But I want something to use with Barrage. as It is, I have to waste time doing conflageration, then Conjure Fire, then barrage the heck out of things.
If I had a string, Heck even Lightning or cold, I could save one slot on my skill bar.

Hey I had an Idea for the Direction to take our guild.
Storvick had talked about opening up our guild to new members, and I thought, we need a guiding princible If we do that.
Now this morning when I logged on, I saw a Necro, needing help at the Doomshire, so I offered to give him a hand. He was so thankfull, and he mentioned alot of people don't help out others, So I got to thinking, Let's Do just that.
Let's make the SFC guild known for helping out others in missions. We do Recruit outsiders, but only those who are interested in helping the other players out there.
Between All of us here, I think we can do it. Hell, I have had alot of help myself from the older players, and who knows, maybe we can even forge some alliances with the other guilds that people are in.
Just an Idea here to discuss.

That would be great and everything but I am in a 10 guild alliance already.I do the same thing at times helping other out especially low levels out.I have known this guy for almost 2 years now that put all the alliances together who is semi retired 55 farmer.I was in the SFC alliance under Mani.You might want to give me D.net TS addy as well if you use that in GW as it is nice to have all my SFC TS addy are out of date.

I have 2 lvl 20 Chars one is a W/Mo names Coral Nath
the other is an Ele/Mo names Karyn Storage
These are my two main PvE chars
I have a PvP char called Loni Palebeauty who is Ele/Mo
Others are either in Pre Searing for farming purpouses or at my GH as excess storage chars, I will not mention more than 3 as the others are not that important as they are not my main characters.

Hey, just passing through and thought I'd ask a question. My son (12) wants Guild Wars for Christmas. Does this game require a monthly fee to play? Is it decent/appropriate for a 12-year-old to play? He's not the greatest gamer, he'd probably just get on and wander around town and bother people. :lol But if he likes it that would be cool enough.

12 years old? Yeah It's safe conditionaly.
as far as content he is good. No monthly fee, but there is enough of us here that we would help him out.
Like any online game there will be peeps that should shut up, But with our group, and I mean all the teams mentioned here, We try to help out others. And trust me, If I saw someone missusing your son, I'd be on them like stink on sh... Uhm... A skunk.
Mind you there are three basic games, with GWEN or Guild Wars Eye of the North, being an add on that you have to have Prophicies, Factions, or Nightfall to play.
Personaly, I think We need the Daddy to join us also, and then we can get the 12 YO up to speed.
IF need be, give me a call S'raek, and I'll try to help out however I can.

They have districts set up, But as for servers, It's not like WOW or other games.
When you go into a mission the game makes It's own copy of the world for you.
Let's say you me, Mani , and Storvick where on a team, then we we live towns, we are the only human players there in the area.
Now I think GW2 might change that, not sure.
but still, we would be happy to help the kid out.

That is why you were away on Mad Kings day or Halloween it is because you wanted to get hats for both accounts..
Stephen set up one of your heros and riposte Warrior if you know what that is riposte and deadly riposte as as well as gladiators defence.Then set up a a Necro. heros as an SS with insidious parasite and shivers as well.

OK, a question for you all. My son did get Guild Wars for Christmas. However, when we go to load the program it does not work. It says that it is unable to connect to the Areanet Network. For some reason my Internet Explorer is not working. We can connect to the internet and I now have Firefox to do things like come here. Do you know if GW needs IE to run? Any ideas on what the problem might be?
EDIT - Never mind. It was the stupid firewall. So, once the game is up and running how do I get him on the server you guys use?

No you don't not need IE or FF to run just a stable internet connection if you have router it might be that otherwise you might want to contact support.

I am connecting fine also check your firewall and if you run zonealarm allow it.
Edit. It doesn't matter what server you go on as they are connected to each other by districts just pull down the area where you want to play American or Europe.Do this in game not at the log in screen.

Have they fixed the guild hall map glitch yet?
For those of you that don't know about it, the following is how it works:
1. A party leader maps from a place that you have never been to the guild hall that you have access to.
2. You join the party leaders group.
3. He then talks to Canthan Ambassador (Guild Hall) and clicks the option to see the "Warriors Hall".
4. Once at the Warriors Hall the party leader then clicks that he is done and leaves.
5. Both you and the party leader is then transported to the last city/town that the party leader was at even if you have never been there before.
I've seen runs through the entire map take a little less then an hour this way.

Added the option to bind keys that activate Hero Skills. These keys can be bound through the "Action: Order Hero (1-3) to use Skill (1-8)" option in the Control options panel (Menu > Options > Control).

SoloWars anyone? The ability to easily and totally control your AI heroes is at the same time a great thing; and a horrible thing all at once. All without using the mouse.

Guilds who dont treat all new people to the game as "noobs"
Guilds that wont take over ( try to make a build, to always compliment another) a character, to suit there own purposes.
Guilds who dont tell people that a toon is wrongly built, in a perfectly balanced game.
A guild that when someone asks for help, they dont over help the person.

I have few more in my guild than Mani does and a well stocked GH thanks to my guildies.GW is different than most other MMOs as most in different areas at different times.I mostly hero/hench my way through the game and use pugs when needed.I encourage others to use this method especially if being an officer.You want more help go recruit.I will evaluate builds based on what they being used for eg. taking a res when in human party and a self heal.
I am not sure if this sound like what you want but if interested my IGN is Misty Maiden.
When it becomes more of playing with real players that is PvP.

I don't know about that I think we are all to old around here although we can still fight a good battle on Dyna.That is if we are in the mood for it more so in shape.In GW you can go out and farm you heart out instead of the intense PvP fight.

Well, to dig deep in the files of the dead and forgotten posts I think I'll bring this one back to life. Is anyone still playing GW? I added a couple of folks to my friends list and I don't belong to a guild. I am currently just in the North Shiverpeaks area. I don't play all that often myself, my schedule is kind of weird since I work 3rd shift.

I am going to be making some changes with in this game or when Guild Wars 2 comes see how that goes.the Guild will be more structured meaning there will be members as well as officers right everyone is an officer as well it maybe become more pvp oriented.This will give officers more responsibilty as well give the members something more to do.I will be phasing this over time and consulting my more senior officers.

Saw the GW2 trailer and it looks pretty good. Not sure that my PC will be able to run it though. And I am still early in the first GW so I doubt I'll get the new game any time soon.
Age, I have the GW Wiki page bookmarked and from reading it (and talking to my son who also plays GW) I don't think we both need to be on to send a request. I think it just shows up on my guild page if a invite is sent. I'm not in a hurry though, I've been without a guild this far and I am fine.
Did I ever say how my son got screwed out of his guild? He made the mistake of trusting someone in the game. They said they could do something to improve his guild (don't remember what it was supposed to be). Anyway my son made the mistake of giving this other person the position of leader of his guild, the moron kicked everyone out and disbanded the entire guild. Unfortunately I didn't know about it at the time or I would have contacted the folks running the game and raised some cane.

You would need considerable amount of time for GW PvP and know the mata game aswell as all the builds they are using.
To S'Raek that is why most guild leader like myself won't hand over their guild.

The PvP part is optional. There's only one 5 minute PvP match you have to play in the original (Prophecies) campaign and that is when you leave pre-searing. Other than that you can just do the PvE part of the game.
