Ok, here are some shots of my texture work sofar on the HOK. Remember, this is the aft sep ship on the Qonos 1...there is only one like it, unlike the Q1 (Conqueror) and the Blade of Kahless (Warhammer) which have less dressed up vessels as mainline ships.
The most notable feature of this ship is that it has a small fighter bay, unlike most ships in it's class, and has impressive firepower for it's size. This vessel is the personal courier for the Emporer himself (Kahless does not use transporters), so it has to be powerful. The ship is actually smaller than a Neghvar, but more powerful, quicker and better armored. If it were a Fed ship, it would be the Sov in other words....one of the most advanced ships in the fleet. Far too expensive for mainline production, however...
Note the odes to the old Q1 (D-7 from Undiscovered Country)...the gold accents are the key, as well as the wash of red panels...all of the Q1 ships will fill this scheme, making them look quite colorful and unique for Klingon ships.
I tried to keep it more modern however, so in comes the panelling that resembles the Vorcha and Neghvar. I am trying for a mix of both.
Let me know what you think...and if you like the detail on the cannons.
-
you sure that is a GC model and not a plastic one it looks so damn professional i cant tell the difference .... excellent job i am really looking forward to seeing all the components together on these ships and if you keep up with this quality of work you should be getting calls from the pros asking your advice ;D ;D ;D
-
Yea, I dont want the red to be too stark, I think I need to darken it and then wash it out more.
-
Amazing, simply amazing

-
you need to make a nerghvar and vorcha while yur at it...lol
-
Darn, he already mentioned the pink. Well it is the "Heart of Khaless"... (pink is healthy right?)
Another fine birdie!
How do you get that molded plastic look? Is it from 3ds max?
I like the guns a lot! How many are on the bow though? In the first pic it looks like 2 but in the wide shot it looks like 4 unless that is shadow. (I am going more than a little blind till I can get surgery).
Good to see you back in action!

Amazing, simply amazing

I'll second that!
Great work! 8)
-
dude thats awsome! You (and WZ) are making me want to brush of the dust on my SFCIII install.
-
Hehe, thanks for the comments guys. I need the feedback.
Ok, darkened the red a bit, washed it out, and added some further gold accents. note the gold piping along the neck...does it look like it works? I am using the Q1 from undiscovered country of course as a reference.
-
i like it i think the gold accent works very well
-
i would make the red personally one of the shades in the O of FW outlance sig (the small one)
-
I understand what you guys are saying, but if I use that really bright red color it looks like the panels are lit up. I have darkened it down pretty good, but the color has to be washed out and worn. Let me know if this looks dark enough.
-
one suggestion would be leave the dark color, and instead use the airbrush and brush burn marks, or use quck mask to make the edges of the paint look chipped, washing it out however doesn't (to me) give an aged look. However this is an improvment over the other red ;)
-
I could try that. I have the latest pic of my progress, I added a grill strip on the raised deck upper rear wing, as well as redid the vents inboard on the wings. I also added more red panelling on the edge of the wing, and further enhanced the panels. Finally, I redid the neck edge armor plates, bringing them back in to the edge of the neck, and instead created a texture to emulate the gold panels along the neck, although i may have to fix the shadows to the back to emulate the pattern on the rest of the ship. Let me know what you think sofar.
-
By the way, I think im going to change the panel on the wing rise to fit on the outside of the rise instead of the inside, a closer match to the setup on the Neg.
-
man loving this new Klingon ship tis like the next step as the sovereign was to the galaxy this is to the negh var, totally awesome raven night
-
can find nothing wrong with it
-
It's beautiful :D
-
Thanks guys, here are the latest shots.......
-
What's the poly count?
Looks great!
-
you need to add some deatils to your edges, your models eneraly lack that, IE the forward face of the wings, have vents like the vorcha) and ofcourse the disruptors in the rear need to be yellow if u want to be real picky ;D
-
She is sitting at about 5100 polys or so at the moment.
I am going to texture in some vents on the lateral edge of the neck, head and wing areas, as well as a bunch of greeblish.
-
Well, here is the latest...not sure I'm happy with how the textures are going, but perhaps I'm being too picky. I haven't done any weathering on the neck yet, nor have I added the little details or the gold accents that go with the Qonos ships...I wanted to make sure my coloring theme is on the mark.
My dilemma is that I'm unsure as to whether I should go with light panels with dark accents, like the vorcha, or dark panels with light accents like the neghvar. It looks a little too bright to me right now...tell me what you guys think.
-
I think the light panels would look better in game play...
-
I think it looks great as is, and I agree it'll look great in game
-
Ok, fair enough, you guys know better than I do. Thanks.
-
Ok, here is the latest pic with the Q1 gold and red accents on the neck. Tell me what you think.
-
I like it a lot. Kahless would be proud. You do great work Raven, thanks for contributing to SFC!
-
sweet i say release her as is :P
don't leave the top of the fwd bridge plain though.
-
Heh...I wont, she has alot more texturing needs. Here is the latest, a top pic...still some details to do, working on the engines now.
-
Wowzers, very nice.
-
It just gets better and better everytime ya post WIP's dayum !!!!!!!!
-MP
-
Thanks. Here are the details on the engines sofar.
-
awsome work!! ;)
-
Thanks...an update on the progress, finished the engines, did some texture tweaking and started texturing the wing edges. Ill move on to the bridge next, then the aft quarter, then finally the ventral hull.
-
You're taking texturing to a whole other level ;D
-MP
-
Really? I'm not happy with how they look. Maybe I'm being too picky.
A good example is the next pic...now, I know I cant use 100 different textures for the model, but I wish I could lol. As you can see, when you zoom in on the Emporers throne room, the other textures on the bridge (the window sets) blur out. Not good.
Now, I know you probably would not get that close, but in BC you could.
