Stocking the Fish pond.

Learning Safer methods to hunt Wild Boar, Them be mean critters with a 12 gauge slug even.
I have just the tried and proven answer for this: They drop in their tracks.
BTW Steve, should I set you up to try one this summer?

That sound you just heard was Stephen's Jaw hitting his desk...
Dude Postman, That's one hell of a pistol... Adds more to my Boar hunting scheme.

Here is a photo of my Father in law after one of his trips for filming the tv show. He is using the same gun that took a buffalo, boar, Grizzly(world record, 9'1"), white tail, and elk.
-
Oops, the Grizzly was a different gun, maybe the 460XVR or still a 500

what will i be doing this summer... hmmm
Well for the frist 2.5 weeks of june i'll be on leave.... can we say beach bum?
For the following 2.5 weeks i'll be doing command center shift (8 hour shifts with a 2 days off) so nothing, though i'll prolly set my rig up and try to get caught up on modeling or be working on my PL Enterprise A (the 1/350th scale one)
for the last 2.5 weeks i'll be on OPS 3rd LT somewhere (go to an AF base, and learn what the real AF is... in short a nice vacation ;))... i'm hoping over seas, that would be nice

I'm going to take a 3-week paid vacation to Italy to keep the peace on our little airborn installation there... and to be like Oddball...
"I'm drinking wine and eating cheese, and catching some rays, you know. "

Going to Field Training for the Air Force ROTC (Think basic but for Officers) for 4 weeks at some point.
Helping build a porch for my fraternity.
Move into said fraternity at some point.
Hopefully doing a summer term for school to catch up on course work.
So yeah, should be filled. So much for actually MAKING money.

Get the garden going in May.
Start changing diapers again June.
Start digging out the crawlspace in July; one wheel-barrow at a time. Took my dad several years to go from space for his tools and junk to a full basement. Figure if I put at least 4 hours a weekend in should be done in 18 months.

$27 a day.
huge money, I know.
-
Spend that money where it counts; from my 4-week experience at Dover (granted back in '88 security was abit lax) I highly suggest a midnite call to the local Dominoes will work wonders for your morale when the entire flight is up all night doing chores.
Just remember, order at leat one pizza for the security guys or they will most likely tip off the CTOs that pizza is inbound.

huge money, I know.
$27 a day BASE PAY... or $27 PER DIEM?
In that kind of situation, I'd get my base pay + the $27 for a really nice paycheck. I've worked TDY Force Protection jobs where I've almost DOUBLED my basepay through per deim.
-
Lets see... bouncing at the doors of pubs and bars and tuning bikes. And trying to get that car, too.
-
Well this summer I'm going to have to travel quite a bit on and off to Norfolk and D.C. for various reasons.
-
My parents have bought a "new" house and are moving in May. Who gets the job of digging up the foundation on one side to stop a minor leak? Not my 3 sisters :), so it is pick an shovel time this summer. Plus some over due painting here at my own home.
-
Learning Safer methods to hunt Wild Boar, Them be mean critters with a 12 gauge slug even.
Use the traditional method. Boar spear.
-
I have an easier way, I just take the bacon out of the package and put it in the microwave.
That way I don't have to worry about getting a tusk up my ass, and explain yet another embarassing injury to the folks who work at the emergency room.

That's it.
We're just cadets.
We don't get any extra allowances beacause we're totally set otherwise.
Sucks.

Sounds like you need to learn a practice that officers have prefected throught centuries of military operations...
LEACH OFF YOUR NCO'S!!! ;)
-
It's all training, we don't get NCO interaction much. We have CTA (Cadet Training Aids) and FTO (Field Training Officers).
I'd explain it all but its rather boring. Suffice it to say, I'm going to bootcamp for officers.

CTAs were CTOs in my day. And they are evil. EVILLLLLL!!!!! Chips on both their shoulders. One of ours was a Senior year POC from my Det and an Academy washout to boot. Every frikkin day he would hunt me down and drop me for 50 pushups just to say hi. Because he could. EVILL!! EEEEVVVVIIILLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!! >:(
-
Put new steps on my front porch once the snow melts and the mud dries up. My rottweiler hooked the last set with her tie out, she won. The new ones will be designed so she can't get caught to avoid a constant rebuilding project.

Only the active Air Force officers can drop us now, and i believe they have to do it with us (might be wrong there).
Also, there's a limit to how much they can do it in an hour. I think the 1st week its 1 set of 10, second is 2 sets, 3rd is 3, 4th is 4 sets. THey can drop us for pushups or flutter kicks.

'Basic for Officers?'
40 push-ups in an hour and they have to drop with? :-\
That ain't basic... it's a health spa! My Drills would drop us for 40-50 every time we went to sleep in a class in AIT. It sould add up to quite a sum once you included the 50-60 that you were doing every morning during regular PT- I racked up 200 in a day once!
If you couldn't complete the PU's, then you stayed in the front lean-and-rest till class was over.

Geeze we just did more for recognition here at the academy, and heck it was cadets dropping cadets ;)

That's why you're at the academy, and I go to school in Worcester.
Also, not sure about the "have to drop with you" thing. I could be mistaken. I know it was talked about.

Well, I'm building some Tesla Coils as personal ground defences for my yard.
-
Well, I graduate at the end of April, so it's job hunt city, then fix the car up ilike new, and I have a little project for iDVD on my iBook

That doesnt mean that they can't still make you feel like sh*t.
We've got a senior going to Vandenberg as her first station Tus. Small world.

yess its a small airforce ;). Though apparently the only reason i'm going to vadenberg is that im an Astronautical Engineering major.... seems that anyone w/ my major has gotten my base or patrick... either way though it ain't a bad deal... though patrick would be more fun....
-
Well thats because they want you to go Space and Missiles. I can understand that. You should go for it, they get to wear flight suits and pretend to be pilots! ;)
On a side note, I got my training dates.
Tyndall AFB, Florida
21 June to 20 July.

That would be a cool job- driving the F-22...
Being the guy that moves the plane around on the tarmac so the pilot doesn't waste his time with stupid stuff...
I mean, yeah, you'll be like the military equivalent of a water boy, but someone has to do it, right?
Too bad you can't be a pilot though...
;D

Maybe Tus will get a case of the arselike that tank driver a few years ago and take the F-22 for a spin in the burbs and on the freeway! ;D We could sit and watch all the cars and trucks have their paint jobs melted off just by the exhaust alone.
BTW, it has happened, that is why we changed the engines and fuel of the M-1 Abrams. It had a nasty habit of screwing up peoples' auto paint jobs at it cruised by the motorpool.
Tankers had it made in 2 aspects, one is that you hardly had to get out of your vehicle except to piss or take a dump or eat hot chow, or at the wash rack, and two, they had some of the best heating systems in the U.S. Army. The M-113 Med track had a badarse heater, but they tended to go out often, which was a deadline according to army regs. Of course, it did not stop us from going to the field, as we were told "Just put a bunch of blankets over your patients." ;D
