Also, clear your cookies and cache, to ensure you get a session on the new domain.

To avoid such issues, do not use the "Log me on automatically each visit:" check box or browser password managers.

I'm pretty sure this got mentioned someplace else (tried a search but was unsuccessful), but I can't seem to register on sfc2.net, and I need to help my arrrrrrrr pirate type chummies arrrrrrrr  ;D

The error message I get after confirming that I'm over 13 (physically, if not mentally) is:

Quote
Could not insert new confirm code information

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1406 Data too long for column 'code' at row 1

INSERT INTO phpbb_confirm (confirm_id, session_id, code) VALUES ('6730720566d4e5338c0ff8253604b108', '8b90d420d27c4182ce548949740fd396', '9ED99DAE74')

File : usercp_register.php

thanks!

Interesting... Thanks for the report!

Seems they missed a change in the database in phpbb 2.0.20...

[Sec] Changed the way we create "random" values for use as keys - chinchilla/Anthrax101

http://www.phpbb.com/support/documents.php?mode=changelog#2019

I modified the database, give it a try now and let me know if its still broke. I'll check back later to see if it's OK.

edit: i just modified it again... I had to search the php code to see how big the column should be - it is supposed to be 16 characters but was only 6... looks like a typo in the db update script... yup it is for some versions and is completely missed for other versions... ::)

Thanks - that gets me past that screen!  But now no confirmation code shows (just the little red x for a broken pic)

I'm sure the forces of CONTROL are behind this somehow!

thanks again!

Don't sweat it - I can happily plunder and pillage without planning,
Siegfried says I don't follow orders very well anyway ;D

Working on it... I'm getting the image, but there have been changes in the php gd module that result in the current phpbb code producing a scrambled image. I may have the solution soon...

Turns out it wasn't the gd module changes as I thought, but the fixes to the current phpbb version (2.0.20) outlined here:
http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=382680
... solved the problem.  :)

I just successfully registered a new account for myself at sfc2.net (wexert).

These changes will probably require users to clear their cache and cookies again.

Fixes applied to all of www.sfc2.net, www.xenocorp.net and www.9thfleet.com forums.

...now WTF was I doing when the bed broke?
