I recently replaced my computer and I now find that when I am online playing i receive popups in the middle of the game that cause the game to minimize and not be restorable. Looking for info on how to block/turn them off.
Thanks,

You have to turn this off in the services applet from the control panel.
Just go to services and look for messenger.
right click on it and go to properties. Set it to disable. Causes no ill effects. also stops irritating pop-ups.

ya it took me 3 months of those annoying ads to finally go look and figure out a way to stop them.

I had to goto control panel/ admin/ services to get rid of the messenger from hell. I had to disable it there to kill it.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Click Start->Control Panel
Click Administrative Tools
Click Component Services
Double-click Services Local
Double-click "Messenger" to bring up the options panel
Right-click the highlighted line and choose Properties
Click the STOP button
Select Disabled or Manual on the Startup Type drop-down menu
Click OK
hope that helps.
