Title: Setting up a Teamspeak/Ventrilo server....
Post by: Midnight Tech on September 04, 2006, 08:14:51 pm
After seeing TS and VT in action here on the Dynaverse, it occured to me that this may come in handy for use between staff members on a board.
What exactly is involved to set up a server for either voice comm?
Thanks in advance and apologies if this is in the wrong place.

A friend of mine has both VT and TS servers loaded up on his machine for Guild Wars Alliance people.  It's not that hard, you just need to download and install the server side program from the VT/TS webside and configure it.  The instructions on the specifics are documented on the respective website.  I thought about installing the voice server myself but never have gotten around to it yet.  Just remember that if you use a router you may have to open up some ports to allow the voice traffic.  If you have any specific questions or issues about the install or configuration just ask, if on the small chance I can't answer the question myself I'll get my friend on the phone.

I've never used VT but I run a TS server and it's no problem at all to setup.  Just run the installation, forward two ports, and you're all set.
