I got off the phone a little while ago, They are doing fine, stying at her dad's place for the time being. Power is out throughout the Island and not expected to be up for a while. Or House phone is out so if you're trying to get a hold of her there, you'll probably won't get her since we have internet phone service via our cable (no power, n phone. suxx) Get a hold of her on her Cell if the network isn't ogged. Text Messages works great.
I was coming back from visiting my Bro in VA and as soon as I turn on the TV to CNN, Bang I see this. Man I really didn't need this but, I am so relieved Amy and the rest of the family is doing fine.

Aloha from the Shaken not Stirred State!
Wow, what a rude awakening yesterday morning! And all I wanted to do was sleep in on the weekend! HA! Sometimes Mother Nature really wants us to know that she's still around and is quite capable of making life incredibly interesting!
So I was cuddled up with my big cat and he was purring away like mad and I was doing that half asleep pet the nice kitty and falling back into a restful sleep. Then all of a sudden I'm thinking to myself, 'What in the f*cking hel is Steve doing that's making our bed shake like that?!' That's when Tubby-boy jumps up from my arms and is standing with his legs splayed out! He was growling and making these weird yipping meows as the bed and house (the bedrooms are on the second floor) are doing this circular dance thing. Freaky! Now I am up and the kids are distressed so I get them to change clothes and get their breakfast because everyone knows that if there is a tsunami the children should at least be fed! Well, no, not really, but I did want to keep them calm and doing something they would have done anyway. I figured that by the time the kids were done eating the tsunami alarm would have gone off. I did have power till about the second earthquake so I was trying to get the local stations but they were all off line. Damn it! I get the kids motivated and tell them we are going to spend the day at grandpa's since he has a working phone line. We grab the really important stuff like papers that can't easily be replaced.
Cable phone is fine until the power goes out. Oh and the cell phones weren't much help either since the towers go down but hey TXT works! So while I'm stuck in traffic on my way to check on my mom and I'm TXTing Steve that we are all OK and that we are going to my dad's. I thought I was being reassuring totally forgetting that he's on the road with his brother going to Fort Mead. Whoops! LOL By the time he got to his room and put two and two together after turning on CNN I was already at my dad's place. I got a TXT from him saying that he's back in his room and I should call him, and I did (my Dad rocks! Letting me use his long distance.) We spent a really nice day there and then my brothers and I went and picked up my Mom so she wouldn't have to eat cold beans from a can for dinner. Luckily daddy got his power back right before we took off to mom's place so he could use his stove in the kitchen. We came back to ramen noodles and burritos. Then my mom, step-mom and I played two games of Scrabble and won em both hands down with 20+ points each time! Yay! These women are incredibly good players so my wins were a huge surprise.
We said our good nights and the boys and I took mom home. She had her lights on so I felt better about leaving her there. We drive home and can see that the surrounding area all had their power back. I had such high hopes that our neighborhood was just as well lit. NOT! We didn't get our power back until this morning at about 8:20! I guess the military is still the red headed step children of the islands!

IT was good to hear from you Amy, and I'm sure Steve is relieved as well. What I thought was funny, Was that the kids still got to go to school today. :D :D :D
Well, This is what you get for carrying a can of Spam across the mountains when you where a little girl. ;)
Take care, and Tell Steve next time you talk to him, I'll get that AIM thingie going and we can talk.

With how far our members are spread it seems whenever there is a disaster one or more of us is there. Glad to hear you and your children are safe.

Thanks Nem! I have to say though that I'm happy everything came out all right and no one was killed. Sure the peeps in CA could say that they have been though worse and that's cool they can have em all they want! LOL I would have rather slept that morning than go around checking on family. :-\ Ahh well life goes on and I just have to pull on my big girl panties and deal! :D
