My HP printer is most likely toast and not coming back fromt he dead, so I need a new one. Does anyone have soem suggestions? This will almost exclusively be run from a mac running OS X 10.4.8.

Any other HP printer is a good choice, or if you're doing high quality pictures, get one of the high end Epson printers.

If you don't need color the Samsung ML-2010 laser is very nice and can be found for well under $100.00.
-
If you're going cheap, your best bet is an HP. They don't last nearly as long as they used to, but the output quality is still far superior to the competitors' for the price.

I ended up getting a HP Photosmart C5180 All in one. So far, i like it. thanks!

My HP Deskjet 842C is still running strong after 7 years. My only complaint is that it's getting hard to find ink for it :'(

I was running a HP PSC 750 that I liiked a lot, but when I moved it recently I think I broke it.

If you need simple b&w printing, the HP 1022 is a good basic laser. B&w laser printers are cheaper to run than inkjets.

They are cheaper if you do a lot of printing, but I don't print enough to make it to that point. I also want to be able to print things that require color.

most importantly: never EVER buy a Lexmark. EVER.
-
Are they really that bad, Max?

Both Lexmark printers I had cost me about $40 and worked like it. The most recent one is an all-in-one that I can't for the life of me find ink cartridges for.
