Here it is folks, should be final unless I really fouled something up . . ..
Step 0: Clear your browser cache
Step 1. Install OP+ 4.
Step 2: Install the SGO6 installer (yes, I'm not kidding).
http://www.sky-flyer.org/sfc/sgo7/sgo6.exe
Step3: Install the SGO7 Patch for the SGO6 installer:
http://69.125.26.106:9000/images/sgo7_1.msi
This is the only way I can get this to work with a clean un-install. I would greatly appreciate if somebody can mirror these files someplace else as this is my home PC and will greatly impact on my p0rn bandwidth.
-
can not get the sgo7 to work, keep getting a more recent version of the installer is already on your computer
Trajan

Try it now, I recompiled it. Clear your browser cache and re-download

INstalling now
-
I'm going out to dinner, will be home later guessing around 11 PM eastern time. Let me know about any issues with the installers and they will be addressed when I get home.
-
Mirroring now.

Don't know if it's my system setup or the installer but the sgo7 patch seems determined to place everything in C:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates even when I changed the path to the correct one within the install. Had to move it manually to the correct directory and then it worked fine and I could log in.
-
DH, the installer worked for me just fine. why other peeps are having trouble I have no idea.
-
It worked fine for me. ;D
-
The installer seemed to work fine for me (at least I can login to the server) but there may be two missing fighter models:
The following are referenced several times in the fighterlist, but don't seem to be in the standard models folder, the opplus one, or the DH123 one
assets/models/gawtm/rft2/rft2.mod
assets/models/gawtm/gft2/gft2.mod
(these are used under the Syndicate for the R-Legion.I, R-TribF, R-TribFm, G-Geco.I, G-G32, G-G32m)

Diehard PM me when you need an update on those mirrors.

can anyone else verify that they have these folders?
If it's just my install no sweat, I'll redo, but if not then we may get into trouble later when someone encounters these fighters
many thanks!

Well, I looked and could not find folders with those names within my models folder.

Do you have a copy of the serverkit from sg6 I hosted? It seems to have vanished from the dynaverse.net ftp server

What is the file name? I think I only have the client side stuff, although I may have taken a look at it on my intraweb server.

I have both of those folders and the files in those said folders.

If the syndicate are the only ones using that, then its not a problem.
-
dizzy what is the name of the installer for the sgo6 server kit?
Doesn't matter anyway... I only have the stock server kit.
Sorry Diz.
-
If the syndicate are the only ones using that, then its not a problem.
No problem then - the actual Rom/Gorn entries for those fighters use different models and are ok
(the syndicate ones are just the donor entry then?)
dave

This is u DH. Ck it out.

The fighterlist is the same as SGO6 and apparantly those models were missing on that as well, I think we'll be okay with that.

http://69.125.26.106:9000/images/SGO7.msi
I don't suppose anyone knows how to get the windows installer service back up and running?
Until I get it going... I ain't installing SGO7 because that is the error I am getting...

I can post the files with directions as to where they can be installed if you can't get this working. I'll do that in the morning and PM it to you. But seriously, if your Windows installer server is f*cked your PC's got bigger problems.

Start>run>services.msc
Scroll down to windows installer it should be set to manual and not be started as it should only start when an msi file is run. Could try right clicking and selecting start if it is set up right. Could also try installing the update http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893803 and see if that fixes your problem.
-
I know that... *cough*
some versions
*cough*
of XP do not have windows installer.

Bearslayer says thank you much and will probably see you on the server....

No problem, I know windows likes to break itself in such fun and difficult to diagnose ways. Now if I could just fix my own computer so easily :(

Why do DH's installers hate me oh so very much?
Not working for me- ftrlst and a huge mu,ber of missions failing crc check.
Even tried installing SG06 into an emprty directory, applying the 7 installer overtop, then copying missions and ftrlist over.
Not working.
Anyone have the missions and lists ***NOT*** in an installer so I can just plug them in?

I had to unstall SGO6 (while the active campagn in 'mod chooser'), reinstall SGO6 (fresh download), select it in 'mod chooser', install SGO7, select SGO7 in 'mod chooser',install the second SGO7 file(the msi file), select SGO7 again in Mod chooser (it asked if I wanted to create a new mod this time so I entered in "SGO7" and selected it from the list of installed mods), and it appears to work- no CRC errors anymore.
This is why I never uninstall these campaign mods- I end up having to manually edit files and delete directories to remove these things (lest I reformat and reinstall everything as suggested occasionally)

Check C:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates the sgo7 update put the files there for me even though I told it different and I had exactly the same CRC errors by the sounds of what you are saying. Then just copy those files across to where you need.
-
Yep that worked.
Thanks!
-
Follow the directions exactly as in the 1st post. For those that manually want to install the ship/ftrlist find them attached as a zip and they go in this folder: C:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates\Assets\Specs
Sticky this thread and the kill thread plz...

Can this Please be stickyed?

Some players are having difficulty because the installer will not instal to other than the C drive for some reason. Can someone host the files for manual installation or alter the installer so it will redirect files to thye selected drive upon instal? Models, scripts and the ftr/shiplist all need to be installed or the game wont function properly.
Q. If the game is on the D drive doesnt the installer instal something unto the C drive anyway? If it does cannot the files simply be copied and pasted?

Yes and yes. C:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates copy all the files there to the base directory of your install and overwrite worked for both me and hexx.

i've been skipping a whole lot of mess and opening the .msi installer with winrar and manually extracting the components to the right folder.
