Special thanks to the Deadman for the Renders

Im instantly in love with the design. its like a connie, but asymmetrical :D looks AWESOME
-
That is so wild. its definetly stretching my preconcieved notions of what a federation ship should look like ;D
Kudos to you Atolm
-
Looks like "stuff" was put where they could, rather than where it looks best. You did another design a while back that struck me the same way, and I really liked it. I like this one too.
-
It certainly is a most unusual and unique design. Not sure if I could ever handle such a starship, she is most definately of high quality. What catches my eye the most are the secondary hull, design of the pylons, and the warp engines. I love those warp engines. If ever I tried to make a TNG version of the Constellation Class, I would love to have those engines. They would fit right in.
The design is well thought out, and the mesh is very clean and detailed. +1

Here is the USS Ohma variant:

WOW!
Viva la assymetry :flame:
-
fantastic... it's almost as if the Breen were federation members and designing the ships ;D
-
To be honest - I dont like it :-\ sorry buddy - but full marks on inventiveness.
-
the ships look like the lost part of the saucer and lose the warp engines on one side, look cool :)
-
WOW!
Viva la assymetry :flame:
Adonis: did you finish your Akira class for sfc2 yet?
-
Great stuff Atolm!! You break the mold every time!! I especially love your mesh regressions expertly placed.
-
Like the first one better, not so sure about the side by side warp engine look.
One thing I really like are the engines themselves as tjhey can go either way (reversible) and still look good.
-
Hey Atolm,
I second the "Full marks for inventiveness" comment, and the models themselves are expertly done. I also agree that the Omaha variant just doesn't work for me. The engine arrangement is just... wrong. Reminds me too much of that ridiculous-looking FASA Northampton (or Andor, not sure which--or if it's both). The assymetrical look is definitely at odds with standard Fed design, even up to the Prometheus class (2374). Even the wreck-bashes of DS9 are symmetrical.
That said, the Miyazaki class is definitely an interesting concept design I have no trouble seeing Starfleet R&D playing around with, say in the late 2290s or 2300s.
She'd look good as an exploratory cruiser, as the unbalanced design looks like it would be a power hog for SIF reinforcement during battle maneuvers. I can see her being very expensive to build.
She does have beautiful, clean lines, though. A very pretty ship that could be used as a fleet flagship, showcasing Federation tech and design to the non-Feds. With all that secondary hull space, she could be a baby carrier, holding lots of specialised shuttles for the exploration of non-M-Class words (Oceanic, toxic atmosphere, etc.)
The more I ramble on here, the more I like her. When you finally start painting her, may I be so bold as to request a special ship? If you are using the JapAnimator naming convention I'd like to see her named USS Laputa NCC-9014.
If not, I still can't wait to set a story aboard her... ;D
Fine work!
-
Wow... thats really well built, completley original....
If i could give that karma thingy I would, until then you have my respect ;)
-
Thanks everyone
The Ohma variant's nacelles are not right next to each other (damned close though...lol)
but are actually in a step format similar to the Dupliex just not directly over one another...actually that gives me an idea
for another variant...lol
Miyazaki worked on Laputa, so aye the ship could/should have that name too.
-
lol...can't stand most of the FASA ships, and that includes the Dupliex "fast destroyer" too. ;)
That would be cool to get the Laputa, for sure!
-
I don't think that the Dupleix was a FASA design - it has a strong air of fanboy kitbash about it

It was a Ships of the Starfleet ship i think...
-
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WAY cool....

You're right, Atolm! (Don't know why I'm surprised...lol)

Seems to be a Perimeter Action Ship rather than a destroyer. It's still a destroyer hull... but at least it isn't as badly put together as I remembered. Still a bad design, but hey, at least some thought went into it. :D
-
yeah...lol
You know, I know my stuff has a tendency to be "out there", rather than on the conservative...but i want to thank you mates for not just shreading the idea just because you don't like it...
as i am sure most of you know, I've posted this design in about 4 or 5 forums, and have been met with a variety of responses...some replies are Physics-stricken (not a bad thing at all, but its fiction for Pete's sake...lol), while others were praise or interesting thinking comments...but then I get blind-sided by shear moronic hatred...that it astounds me.
Everyone has their own ideas/ideals about Sci-Fi or Trek Specifically, but is it right to impose those ideas/ideals to belittle someone's work?
So I thank you, thanks for not being the guys who did it...but rather took the design for what all my stuff is...just ideas
-
Lol, they should ban alcohol from the design rooms I think, I want to paint it yellow and red for some reason, I can picture it rolling across the edge of federation space marking out the boundry... hmmm I should ban alcohol from me.
NM, class as always dude.

i find it not bad, with phaser "B" this baby can be great agains small ships

Hey it was your reimagined TOS fleet that you did gave me the idea so long ago for really changing things the way I see stuff.
So I just opted the seldomly used "Reserve Asymmetrical Clause". :D
So thanks.
As for the secondary Imps, there is actually a secondary impuse assembly within the saucer, mainly used for compensations.
-
So...
*flicks eyes around nervously*
Will, uh, you be painting my Laputa any time soon?
Pretty please, with sugar and cherries and stuff?

Didn't you already design a similiar ship called the Azel that was on I_Mudds site?

that ship has no secodary hull, and is actually more symmetrical than this is (that ship is sweet though :) )
Think of this ship as a preTNG heavy cruiser to that TOS light cruiser
