Three to four strips of bacon and link sausage.

Home fries and/or hash browns (crispy).

When I was single (oh..32 or so years ago)..on the weekends..a couple of cans of beer on the way to go fishing (a 10 minute walk from my place to the Mohawk River, near Rome NY)..caught some nice northern's there...

Now a days..it's a granola bar or a bagle

Cold pizza. Maybe 30 seconds in the microwave to get the center cheese molten and greasy.

Since Im still a bachelor, Id have to say that I have two:

1. Cream gravy & biscuits, eggs, sausage/bacon/livermush, orange juice, and coffee.

2. Grits w/butter and/or cheese, eggs, sausage/bacon/livermush, orange juice, and coffee.

Funny thing is, my cholesterol is under 110.

If I didnt have the "fixins" for the above two, Id go with:

Gingered buttermilk pancakes, fried eggs, and coffee.

what's livermush?

Basically, its a type of sausage made with pork liver or a mixture of pork and beef liver. Its combined with cormeal and spices, then cooked. They sell it here in NC. I believe that someone said that there is something similar made up north, except that they include alot of other stuff. IIRC- its called scrapple. We dont use anything except liver, meal, and spices.

Ah, OK.  I thought it might be something like that, but I wasn't sure of the ingredients.  Normally, I really don't care for liver, but I might be willing to try that out as it sounds more like a sausage with a liver base.

It doesnt taste like liver. They actually sell livermush sandwiches in fast food restaurants around here. I used to get a livemush and egg buscuit at..., it was either Hardees or McD's. Its been a long time. Now, I get up early enough to make my own. I may miss an extra half hours sleep, but its worth it. We used to make it ourselves. I'll see if I can find our recipe. You make it in a loaf pan.

Well, don't be giving out family secrets, but if you do run across a decent recipe, let me know, sounds worth a try.

Sure thing. The basic recipe is pretty much the same. If you use less meal, they call it liverpudding because its smoother. The spices are pretty much "to taste". The only other difference is that some people use finely diced pickled peppers (pimentos) and other flavors. Some people like it a bit spicey. I'll dig through our recipes and post ours. You can add or subtract spices to your own specs. I'll probably post it later today...unless they call me in to work. I hate being on call.

Here you go, Joker. This is the basic recipe.

LIVERMUSH

1 hog liver
1 ½ tsp black pepper
½ to 1 C. Cornmeal
2 Tbsp  ground Sage
Salt to taste
Ground red pepper

Boil until tender in salted water. Remove and run through a colander until fine, or mash well. Mix the meat with 1 cup of the broth it was cooked in. Bring to a boil slowly, stirring in sifted corn-meal until thick. Also stir in salt to taste, black pepper, sage and a little red pepper if desired. Pour into a loaf pan and let sit until cold. Can be sliced for sandwiches. Can also be frozen for storage.

Can also be used as a 'Weapon of Mass Disgustion' in order to make J Carney never want to eat again!

Dont tell me that a member of the Alabama NG is afraid of a little bit of liver? Have you every tried it? For all you know, after your first taste you may love it so much that you'll eat it 'til your head falls off.  ;)

I can eat a lot of sh*t, man...
I like eel if it's cooked (at all, sushi is just too much) though it's a bit greasy.
I've tried dog and have to say it's not actually bad.
I won't try snake under normal circumstances, but know it's not bad tasting as I was tricked once.
I've even eaten possum, coon, and chitterlings.
Bear smells rough to me, but I could stomach it if necessary.

However, liver and red boudin (white is OK) are absolutely REVOLTING.
You're supposed to get rid of the bloody parts, not intentionally eat them.

I dont know what to say, bro. Ive eaten most of that stuff myself, except eel and only because I never had the chance, plus alot more. However, I like liver. I like pretty much all kinds, beef, pork, chicken, turkey, bear, deer, etc. Ive even eaten raw liver. Bear tastes good, it just smells "rough" and is a bit greasy.

I guess youve never eaten calf brains and scrambled eggs, either? What about the "lights" (aka. lungs)? Pickled beef tongue?

I had a very restricted diet as a baby. We, my siblings and I, couldnt have milk of any kind. So, we had some unusual "formulas". Some had dried, powdered beef hearts that would seperate when it cooled leaving a layer of fat at the top. When we were able to eat solid food, we were fed anything that had no dairy products.

The point is, we learned to never turn any food away even if most people would consider it "unusual". Imagine feeding sardines packed in mustard or pickled pigs feet to an 18 month old.
