Taldrenites and Fellow SFC'ers,
I was contacted today by FireSoul - some of you may remember him, eh? Well, a close friend of mine, and one of his best, if not his best friend Strafer had to be hospitalized today.
Strafer helped FireSoul with his revisitation of MagnuMan's Legendary Co-Op 4, and FireSouls world famous OP Plus shiplist.
As soon as FireSoul updates me, you'll know more.
Please keep Strafer in your thoughts and prayers if your that type - 33 years old and one HELLUVA good guy.
Regards,
-
Will do and gladly, Firesoul and Strafer, are some of the best guys Around.
all my prayers towards them.

Is Strafer from/in Ottawa? ( I ask as he knew Firesoul?Astarte are/were here).
Yeah.. He's my neighbour, best friend, and was my best man at my wedding.
I got some news, so I'll take the time to share it:
Strafer is currently in a semi-comatose state. He was diagnosed with an exploded tumour in the head causing blood pressure. He was found by our common friends after he had answered the phone but no one was speaking on the line. A buddy went over to check on him at home, saw his car in the driveway but no one answered the door. Thankfully he persisted, and strafer himself answered the door.. but that's another story.
The next diagnosis will be in the next 2-3 days. A doctor's opinion was given to his family: if it's cancerous.. and if it's in multiple locations in his brain as it may indicate, it may be better to let him pass on instead of trying to heal him.
We're hoping for better news than that and are awaiting for the diagnosis.

Good luck -- Hope for the best prepare for the worst..
Will remember to say a prayer.

Firesoul,
Strafer and his family and friends have my very best wishes, and my fervent prayers.
Cancer is frightening, especially with the circumstances you have described. I wish for all to have the strength and courage to deal with whatever comes to pass.

Frey, is there a way this "community" can show a more tangible way of helping? The medical bills will be astronomical.
Prayers are important, immediate help is vital.
-
For now, just your healing thoughts are needed.
In Canada, most medical needs are covered by the healthcare system. So..no bills.
Thank you.
We are very grateful to know how many people care and are hoping for Strafer's recovery. He has touched many lives for the better and it is nice to have so much support for him.
-
Here is looking up all the best to Strafer,FireSoul and Astarte.
-
I've received an update and jolted down some notes.. sorry if they're really quick.
Strafer was brought into the operating room this morning, as they needed to relieve the pressure and work on the tumour since he was deteriorating. In fact, his right side had become paralized from this.
In a nutshell:
- removed burst tumour
- removed other "abnormal tissues" as well
- he seems to have regained control of right side based on some reflexes he's demonstrated
- traces of cancer discovered in his left arm
- waiting for him to regain consciousness.
- doctors satisfied with the operation
The unfortunate side is that aggressive chemotherapy has to begin immediately. As it is, he may only have less than a year tops to live unless the cancer is put into remission. I hope that when he's lucid that he doesn't mind me having posted these intimate details.. but I'll be happy to face that.

Here's news directly from my friends:
Yves' parents were there, my mother spoke to them for a good hour
while visiting Yves.
He's opened his eyes when the nurse said "Yves, your parents are
here!" and just like he did to me he was focusing on them until the
heavy drugs got him to close his eyes again.
His right side isn't as responsive but is now moving (only his
arm/hand for now) but Yves mother has confirmed that he grabs their
hands and specifically goes for her wedding ring & plays with it.
The drugs he's on are still pretty strong and will be off the heavy
stuff soon and therefore, should be pretty conscious soon (that's me
hoping here, not a fact).
Yves just left (~30 mins ago) for an MRI., Doc wants a full 3D scan
of his body. Re-confirmed that he thinks he took 100% of the tumor
and thus was very happy with the surgery.
We're still waiting for the result of the tumor, his potential
cancer, the conversation was more supportive than a questionnaire as
I'm sure we'll find out soon enough about all that.
All in all, this is awesome news.

I've made arrangements to go and see him. I've taken a week off and I'm gonna fly to Ottawa from where I am right now, California.
... this is what I got today in my email from one of my pals there:
Tuesday's update:
Yves was still "status quo".
Still in a semi-coma.
Talking to the nurse (that can't really say anything, since we're not
"family"), she told me that he's sometimes responsive. It happens that when
she asks Yves to lift his arms, he does.
I told Yves that Lanthier is really worried about him, and that he's coming
down this weekend to see him.
At that, Yves opened his eyes, started to breath quicker and started to move
both hands.
The light's on.
I don't know if it damage or drugs...the nurse really can't talk.
Hopefully, when I stop by Yves' parents would be there somethime soon. I'll
ask if I can ask some questions to Yves' doctor...you know that questions
that are all on our minds.
Next update tomorrow.
-
Looks like he's pulling through.. *whew*..
Here's the best news yet:
Yves was getting a bath 'bout 45mins ago by the nurses (he's gota hook
me up!), he's responding very well, his brother Alain was with him
yesterday and telling him everything that's happened to him while Yves
attention was completely focused on Alain the entire time.
His right side if functional but a bit weak., his parents asked for
physio and doctors said yes right away (good news!). Hasn't spoken yet
but responds to pretty much everything the nurses & doctors ask now.
No new from the MRI and the biopsy on the tumor. Hoping for tomorrow.
It seems there was 2 tumors, one beside the exploded one, which was the
main cause for immediate surgery and the belief that the cancer is
spreading fast. The good news is that it might have been the same tumor
with 2 lumps, we won't know until we hear of the MRI results.
Yves is in no pain at all, is improving and allot more conscious.
-
Glad to hear he's improving and hope they got all of it.
-
-
I've been following along, and awfully glad to hear that things seem to be looking up. Please continue to post updates.

I've been absent of late and just saw this. I'm very glad to hear that his condition is improving.
Steve

Fab took the time to joke around Yves with one liners and groaners...Yves could always best Fab with those.
Confirmed by the nurses:
Yves' more interactive, though he's still sleepy and zones out from time to time.
MRIs are not alraming, and they take more everyday.
Yves will have to go through chemo for several months.
Time will tell how Yves will recover...but considering it has been 4 days since the surgery, the nurses say it's encouraging.
-
his parents asked for physio and doctors said yes right away
That is good news! I think physiotherapy is great, it is amazing how they can get stuff working again. Strafer is still in my thoughts and prayers and it is good to hear he is improving and will be getting physiotherapy. Thanks for the update.
-
As I know at some point Strafer will be perusing this thread... and because laughter is absolutely the best medicine....

Context: My surname is 'Lanthier'.
Update for yesterday, written by a buddy:
I brought Sam & Lanthier to go see Yves today.
Lanthier told me that Yves trieds to say "la" when he saw him.
It's the first time that Yves has tried to say anything.
That's good.
Around 12:30, again I was out of the room (seeing a pattern?) Lanthier said
that Yves pointed with his right hand (again good) to the panel to lower
his bed, then closed his eyes.
Yves was tried and wanted to kick Lanthier out (that's awesome!)
It was the weekend nurse team, so they didn't know about how Yves'
progressing...but I'll go see him again (worst case) Tuesday, and get the
wanted update...and mention these developments.
Today, written by strafer's brother:
This evening I never was so happy to hear my name. I asked Yves if he recognized me and through his breath he whispered my name. He also told me to "Break a leg"! Along with other words I couldn't make out since he's got a tube down his nose going to his stomach, he said "tendress", "sauve toi" and we got to the letter "B" before he dozed off and came back saying "alphabet".
-
Outstanding , glad to hear he's doing better.
Thanks for all the updates FireSoul, please keep them coming.
Stephen

Yves was tried and wanted to kick Lanthier out (that's awesome!)
Heh, next time bring a stack of SSDs and tell him you've started work on OP+4.3 and need some help. That will get him going good! ;D

I've reported this to Strafer's brother's FaceBook page:
I went to see Yves yesterday as well, but with his parents. They are currently living out of Yves' place to be closer and thus it's easy for us to hook up and do stuff since Yves is my neighbour here in ottawa.
Anyway, I had poured some Ginger Ale into a cup, as suggested by the nurse and gave the cup to Yves. He's able to grasp it and bring the straw to his mouth and sip. His recovery is step by step, but each day brings something new.
-
Subject: "Hey Yves how's it going?" -- "Good" :-O
The guy's sitting in a special chair and his brother's there., I come up and
he's just looking at me so I say "Hey! Comment ca va?" and he answers
"bien."
His brother & father were on their way out and I stayed for half an hour
until I was kicked out as they have their shuffle stuff to do.
He's not conversive.. he answers after processing for a bit. After talking
to him for a minute I realized he probably wasn't understanding all of it so
I asked if I was speaking to fast. He answered "Acceptable." LOL
So I talked about the games we played and he answered everything right, you
just need to be a bit slow as you see he's still healing and the meds cause
him to be a bit drowsy on top of things.
I can sorta see frustration as he sometimes understand it all but just can't
speak his mind. So I can understand why he would be annoyed at his
condition. However, twice I did see him close his eyes and go to la-la land
for a few seconds. All in all it's _major_ improvement, the swelling isn't
all gone yet therefore more improvements to come just from the brain going
back to normal size. Then later on he will be healing and improving more.
His right side seems quite good, he kept using his right hand to clean his
table in front of him and I gave him a hand shake when I left. He was using
his hand/arm with no sign of handicap.
If you sit in front of him he'll stare, if you don't say anything he'll
start looking around and clean his table.. So you can see what I mean by
"not conversive".. He's also not "all there" yet. The minute you ask a
question, he makes an effort and answers straight up.

Hello,
Firesoul your a sure good buddy to Strafer.
My sister died of the same stupid tumour about 8 years ago now, she was 14 years old.
But I aint posting negative, i've made many friends who have recovered, the most amazing thing with them all is that they state the same, "they can hear you".
My sister came around for a short while and thanked me for words i never would have thought she could hear. She came home for 2 days ,her request, and sat on my knee playing SFC3 she used to love it. I will never forget her last 2 days at home " Go on WorfHonour destroy their ships"
Stick with it Strafer can hear you, if nothing else Strafer will love to hear your voice.
Use words that you know will give the will to live.
My hopes and Prayers to a recovery

Great News ..... He's doing "Good"
Your stopping by and talking means a lot to him, your a "Good Friend"

Well unfortunately I'm back in California now.. I'll try to keep in touch with the flow of information, but I have to go on with my establishing my life down here with my family.
New job, new town.. it's a whole new thing for Ast and I..
-
I never met Strafer, but I sympathize with him still. I hope he will recover well. Good thing he in in Canada with their health care system and not in the US.
-
I've been away for a while and just saw this.
I've met Strafer with Firesoul a few years back over dinner to discuss SFC in general. He was a really nice guy with a good sense of humour. I hope he gets better soon and beat this thing.
Firesoul, I hope you and your family are doing good in California.

Unfortunately, my family's not down here yet.. paperwork complications. ;(
Anwyay, this is all the news I have, from his brother:
Got a call from the hospital saying that Yves may be depressed or have been since he's known he's had cancer. I think he's holding up pretty good but when we leave and at night time it's only normal that he feels sad.
-
I'll be making sure to visit him this weekend.
I did print out and show him parts of the thread. He particularly was interested in the joke Frey sent, so if any of you have good jokes to send him, please post them and I will be sure to print them out and bring them.
I only have a black and white printer though, so keep that in mind *chuckles*
-
I asked for news and got some:
The cancer is at a stage that can't be prevented from spreading. It went to his head and likely going to spread again hence the request we had to either let it be or try to give him more time by operating. Now it's hoping nothing goes wrong before Yves can undergo chemo.
He's still at the Civic. He migth be able to walk soon and have a room instead of the observation area.
-
Yves' parents called me yesterday, told me about the room change, added some good news where Alain told
a good one the way he knows how to get Yves and got him to laugh out loud for a bit which made Alain laugh
even more and got a few tears of joy. Yves' much stronger, he lifts himself up square now to adjust himself in
bed and what not. His good attitude is coming back too, he actually told a joke to Alain, a joke from Francois Perusse.
It's looking up for the guy, he's still recovering at a fast pace. They took the feeding tube out on Tuesday, Yves now
eats on his own. Today or tomorrow, the nurses want Yves to stand and walk on his own. Friday it THE day. All 3
specialists/doctors are getting together to talk about Yves, his condition & future. After tomorrow, we'll know what's
really in store for Yves., and of course, once he can start Chemo, we can only pray that cancer's been at bay.
Yves' parents confirmed that they will spend extra time with Yves tomorrow and that Alain will be there right
after work to keep him company.
For sure I'll be visiting this week-end, don't really mind as to when, so it's up to you Amy. I'm avail. to pick you up
as well so anytime is good.
-
Thanks FS.....

Hello,
Keep the faith.
Depression will set in and that dont help. It like goes in and out, one minute fine the next down.
Just be sure he can see and hear friends and family, be positive dont let there be negative talk.
Chat about fun things, if it turns back to the illness, try to be understanding but dont dwell on it.
Like I said I know lots of people who made it.
It might be good if we could 'e' mail him our support.
My Prayers and Hopes to a recovery.
Worfy
-
Peeps - you can "e" mail him.. via this thread.
Astarte, you are a great person, and my hat is off to you for your actions in this situation.
Firesoul.... KEEP THE FAITH.
Yves will face whatever comes with dignity, integrity and humour because that's how he is.
Let's do our absolute best to cheer him up, so post your funny pics and jokes here!!!
I've also got what I am pretty sure is the hospital's address, and plan to send him something as soon as I can get the cash.
Remember that SFC: EAW T Shirt MagnumMan donated to D.Net, along with the rest of his.. stuff?
It's going to Strafer.
Regards,

update from his brother:
I was told he did a few steps yesterday. Doctors all met and because he's doing so well and recovering fast they will transfer him to General and start chemo. I don't have a date but that's the plan.
Frey, before you send that care package, note that he may be moved to a different hospital altogether, soon.

Hey Yves, I have have been monitoring this thread and your progress for a little while now, and
just wanted to pass along my best wishes and let you know I am praying for you.

Hello,
I'm Flamehawk...a good friend of Firesoul, Astarte and Strafer.
(kind of obvious considering I'm sending this through Astarte's account)
Here's a Strafer Update:
A mutual friend of ours went to see Strafer last night:
"Is there something that you'd like to eat?"
"Gabriel's Pizza, all dressed."
Since that mutual friend couldn't bring it today...I got drafted.
I brought the Gabriel's right before noon, and the nurse brought us to the Sun Room.
Strafer and I talked for a while, though he's keeping his answers short.
His parents brought his laptop last weekend, so I asked Strafer:
"So, what are you doing on your laptop?"
"Play games."
"What games?"
"SFC."
"What race?"
"Fed."
"Are you winning alot?"
"No."
"See Strafer, you have to play Rom. THE best race in the game. Don't play Fed. They miss with their Photos, then complain when they lose."

Yah...that's IF the photons hit.
I still remember a SFB game where a Fed-BB fired 8 full overloaded Photon on a Gorn PF, at range 5...and NO hits.
-
Number one: I was talking about Quantum torpedoes.
Number two: I was talking about SFC III with the latest patch.
Number three: Set overloaded Quantum torpedoes at proximity and watch the fun.
"Ooh, that had to hurt." 8)

I have to apologize for not only FlameHawk, but Strafer and myself as well: We're not SFC3 fans.. we're SFB fans. I bought SFC, and then later SFC2 and SFC-OP because it was SFB. In fact, that's why my mod ever existed: we wanted to play SFB *BUT* in a way that preserved the feel of SFC since we had to admit was different as well.
Anyway.. FlameHawk is and has always been a Romulan fan, plasmas and mauler and cloak and all...
I think he should create his own dynaverse.net account.
-- FS
PS. Now remember, this thread is about Strafer, not SFC/SFB. ;)
-
Oh I'm aware of the thread subject.
Once he has his lap top he'll see some friendly ribbing and maybe chuckle.
All in good fun.
Fed. ::off in search of the Borg::
-
*chuckles* Okay, I'm back on my own account. *looks at her chest* Yeah..I'm me.
Although Strafer has his laptop, he does not have an internet connection, so the best contact so far would be this thread.
I have an USB key I will be swapping back and forth with stuff for him to read/look at/watch. One of the plans is to save this thread and send that to him, so please keep your jokes and messages coming!
They are looking to start chemo treatments within the week, and are hoping to release him by Dec 10th.
Keep your fingers, toes, and eyes crossed and Yves good health in your thoughts and prayers.
-
Just thought I'd pop in and say it's good to hear Strafer's doing better, and you have my highest hopes for his full recovery.
-K-Fo

Alright ladies (kroma) and gents!
Just got word that he had his first chemo treatment today. They have also moved him to the General Hospital. Each day he seems to be improving which all in all is good news. A bit more interaction, a bit more movement. Heck, even his appetite is coming back!
We are all making sure he is loaded up on goodies and not just boring hospital food, so we will have him back as hale and hearty as when he went in!
Now I want to see some more jokes dammit!
I might even be able to pull out an orion girl or two as 'compensation'.

WE NEED YOU MAN !!!
I'll get some more pics up, I've had my own RL emergencies to deal with over the last three days.
I need a new address, please, if someone can send it to me via PM, that'd be most appreciated.

Glad to hear you're doing better Strafer!
I'm up to my ears in snow here. I've got to plow the driveway for the third time in as many days. I always realise how out of shape I am after the first big snow, I always end up really sore all over! The reward is the beauty though. The evergreens are heavily laden in snow and bright in the sun. :)
Here's a funny post I came across on slashdot the other day. It tickled my funny bone (in a stupid-funny way):
Some unknown facts about MacGyver:
Fact: On the 1st day, God created MACGYVER. On the 2nd day, God created knives and paperclips. On the 3rd day.. MACGYVER created everything else.
Fact: MACGYVER can invent 1000 different things using a ball of yarn and a pair of sunglasses. 999 of these things can kill a man. The remaining thing can kill a planet.
Fact: MACGYVER invented genocide using only blankets and smallpox.
Fact: The only thing that MACGYVER cannot produce with a soda can and an extension cord... is mercy.
Fact: One time, MACGYVER built a time machine out of an old refrigerator and a pocketwatch, and used it to travel to the ancient paradise of Atlantis. However, while there, he went on a drunken bender with with a magnifying glass and a book of matches. This area is now known as the Sahara.
Fact: Chuck Norris is an android built by MACGYVER in an attempt to find a worthy opponent.
Fact: Some crazy people claim that MACGYVER was just a TV character, played by Richard Dean Anderson. In actuality, Richard Dean Anderson was played by MACGYVER, and the show was a documentary, the events of which REALLY HAPPENED.
And the final Fact: Necessity is the mother of invention but... MACGYVER is the father.

Long story short...Yves leaves the General tomorrow.
I last saw him last Wednesday...and while he's not eating...there's
no perceptable delay in
response to a question, and I'm able to make Yves smile & laugh.
I'm brining him some Gabriel's tomorrow evening.
P.S.
Some of you might have know that there was a "blip" that the doc had
found 2-3 weeks ago inder his arm (where
they had already operated). Well the test revealed that it was
negative. So all good news.
Sounds like he's going home.
Also:
Yves still has lymph nodes with cancer in his armpit area, where he
was originally operated on.
Yves isn't out of the woods yet, he has a big battle ahead of him and
will really need support until it is in remission. The cancer is in
"roaming" stage right now and can hit at any time. We can only hope
that by the time they operate on Yves for those lymph's that scans
still come up negative and that he may start chemo to flush whatever
is left in his body, praying that none of them remain in dormant
stage.
His progress from the brain operation is extremely encouraging. I'll
be happy once he's been told by doctors he's _really_ lucky for the
cancer to be gone.
-
His getting out on Tuesday is iffy. He finishes his radiation
treatment on Tuesday so they may hold him for as long as the weekend
afterwards. He will then go back to his apartment. His parents will
be staying with him.
-
I've been sent an address that is his home address.
Let me know when he's gone home, and I'll ship.
Regards,
Frey

Hoi Strafer,
I am sorry I have only just found this thread. I am overjoyed to read that you have entered the most irritating thing life can offer, healing. It is good to know you are well on the way, and quite right, if a break is required what better than SFC! Have you considered Gorn? Sturdy ships, not so bad plasma arcs, extremely good marines, and they have the ability to launch many shuttles quickly; I do not know why, they just can. Of course one should not neglect Hydran, to embrace the Hydran, is to embrace the fusion beam... however I digress....
You have demonstrated great spirit, and show promise of greater still, keep up the good work.
I do have one suggestion, for the good of your health, I would stay away from Fed ships, photons, they miss...often.
Take care

I have never had the honor of knowing Strafer but I hope it all works out.
Godspeed.

He's Home!
It's just a daypass, but I just talked to him. I noticed he was online. I just sent him to this thread.
-
I'm very pleased to hear the doctors are satisfied with the operation. Best wishes and highest hopes for a Christmas miracle to give him a full and speedy recovery.
-
So how was his day home last week? I hope he enjoyed it.
Stephen
-
Well, I hope we get an update soon, although I know it's the holiday season and stuff.

Best wishes and Merry Christmas Strafer.. Get well soon.. we need you here at D.net... I need someone to teach me how to fly again.
Good luck to you and best wishes to both you and your family.

Even better, record the Bewbies Thread on the USB stick!! That'll keep him happy for a long while!!
All I can say is it is better to play as Klingons rather than the woosey Romulans.
Play Klingons and feel the Galaxy tremble with fear!! ;D

From a friend who DID spend time on these boards here as Boylinux:
Well Fab and I spent part of boxing day with Yves playing Starcraft.
This was probably one of the first lan parties in the Civic.
Anyways Yves is getting out from the Civic and will be home on the
4th. Not sure what is happening after he gets out except he has
social engagements for the next couple of weekends.
Hope everyone had a good Xmas and heres to a great New Years.
-

I just read this thread. I've been away on hajj for almost 5 years. It's great to hear you're recovering. I look forward to playing some op with you. My Church and I are praying for you. Keep the faith. God Bless
Hello,
I'm Flamehawk...a good friend of Firesoul, Astarte and Strafer.
ROM-FHF rules!
Feds are the best.Glad to hear Strafer is getting better send him a big mac.
quarter pounder w/ cheese... oh wait canada... they're metric "royale w/ cheese"

Guys, Yves' been re-admitted at the Civic on Monday.. Had to nasty seizures, problem urinating and it seems it might be due spinal fluid infection still. He had cranial pressure and blood pressure was over 200.
He's stable now and his parents are meeting with the neuro surgeon (who operated on Yves) later today. They said they'd get Alain to post news about him on Facebook, hopefully it'll be good news. Otherwise I'll call in 2 days to find out.
So at best, we'll be able to make a quick visit to see Yves at the Civic after breaky.
-
Hope he gets the after effects all taken care of.
-
He didn't get surgery done afterall. He was supposed to get some more scans today.
Seems like this is all due to the fact that he sneezed and hit his wound on the side of the bed back at General. He never told anyone and by the time they noticed blood on the pillow it caused some infection. Now they have to wait until the test show that the liquid is indeed infected before they can put a tube or drain the infection first. (Something like that)
-
Thanks for keeping us updated FireSoul. Glad to hear more surgery wasn't needed.
-
Hello,
Sorry to hear about the problem, it takes time, a few up times and bad times, but ensure Strafer it will be ok. ;D
Stay in there, we are all routing for you Strafer.
My heart and prayers for a recovery,
Worfy ;D

From his brother...
I am sad to report that Yves's melanoma cancer has been detected throughout his spine. Tumors are forming and causing paralysis. He slowly can't move his legs and barely feels them.
My suggestion is that you go see him ASAP before he looses senses... then go home and cherish your own life, friends and family.
Go do everything you ever wanted to do but always put it back to tomorrow. When you wake up tomorrow morning, instead of finding an excuse to postpone your plans, find reasons to do them instead. Use other people's misfortunes as fuel to make things happen for you.
-
I'm sorry to inform that Yves isn't doing well.
Recent update from his parents today was to tell us that he has very
little time left, the cancer has spread and is taking over quickly. I
will be visiting with (replaced, BoyLinux) and (replaced, FlameHawk) soon. I will try and
update everyone if there is anything else to add.
BTW, we haven't told Yves directly what little time he has left. His legs are paralyzed. He has trouble moving his right side. The cancer has definitely spread to his spine and .. well.. you can't just remove someone's spine.
.. damnit.

.. damnit.
There isn't a big enough word, methinks, to describe how you feel. Damnit barely scratches the surface. Some that are closer, aren't board approved.
Spend every possible moment you can with him. Above all, be there for him.
If you believe, pray. If you don't believe, pray anyway. I can not speak for the work of others, nor can I promise, but miracles do happen.
I don't want to sound like a total douche. I don't know you or Yves. But, I will not give up hope for him to pull a magic rabbit out of his butt and make some kind of a recovery. No matter how grim, there is always hope.
My heart is with you. All of you.
:'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
Czar "Been there, done that, still sad about it" Mohab
P.S. I think I can safely ask you, from each of us, to give him a big hug from all of us.

The Russians and a lot of countries in Europe use Hydrazine Sulphate to reduce spinal and brain tumours but the FDA refuses to test it despite being up before a senate committee in 2006 over their resistance to it. Something to do with the big drugs companies not wanting a cheap "magic bullet" to actually be marketted.
Some US and Canadian hospitals and doctors use it as part of their cancer game plan, others don't. It depends on luck really.
Might be worth discussing whether Hydrazine Sulphate could be a strategy option.
Look it up on the internnet as there us a lot of material on Hydrazine Sulphate.

From Yves' brother:
Wednesday:
Yves is barely conscious at this point. Medication only makes it worst. This is where nature takes it's course.
and
Doctors have confirmed it. Sad to say there's nothing left to do at this point.
Since he's a strong guy they don't know if it'll be weeks or months. In any case he's tired of it he says. :(
:'(

It was the same with my father two years ago, who was dying of lung cancer.
His lungs were fillimng up with fluid as quickly as they could drain them out, which is when the doctors told the family the end was near. His heart gave out in the end. No one dies "peacefully" when dying of smoking induced lung cancer.... they suffer in agony right up to the last seconds!! :(
If you want a motive to give up smoking go and see how you eventually die....
I know what it's like to have to sit by and feel totally helpless to prevent fate.
-
I don't know what to say.

My deepest sympathies to Yves' family and friends at this difficult time. I know he is a good friend to you Firesoul. I know that friendship will mean a lot to Yves family in the coming days and I know you will show the courage and love that your nickname implies.
-
Exactly what the others have said. I wish I could do something to help.

Commit him and yourselves to the Hand of the Lord.
His will is perfect.
You are all in my prayers.
God grant His Grace to the family.
God Bless.

I haven't posted in this thread, because I honestly couldn't bring myself to do so. I was hoping things would get better, but unfortunately they didn't.
My deepest sympathies. Sorry I couldn't have said anything sooner.
-
I completely missed this thread all these months and I am sorry to hear about what's going on.
Yes, Lord, ease his pain, but please, Lord, stop the spread and give him more years of good life to come.
Amen.

Tuesday:
Yves has lost his ability to talk. It's now an accomplishment when he does say a word instead of random sounds. He slept the whole time I was there. He's not receptive anymore.
He is being transfered to Bruyere this morning.
Bruyere is a local hospital known for its palliative care.

Alain Nantel wrote at 11:28am yesterday
i was just told that they don't expect him to continue breathing at this rate. today or tomorrow should be the last of yves' suffering.
:(
.. since that was posted yesterday, it's entirely possible he's passed on already, but I haven't yet received a call. I must admit it's keeping me up. (3:22am)
We'll keep you posted.

Is there anything we can do for his Family?

Is there anything we can do for his Family?
I don't think so..
The bills will mostly be covered. I am unaware of what they may need other than the obvious: prayers and sympathies.

Many prayers on this end.

My Sympathies goes to you Firesoul and Astarte if the unpleasant has happened.

I'm sorry to say that Yves has passed away this morning. I feel this deserve its own thread but I don't have the heart to do so at this time. I don't have any other details about arrangements yet.
Just got a call from Alain. Yves passed away at 10 this morning. Keep the happy times with him in your thoughts.
-
Sincerest condolances .
-
I'm terribly sorry to hear that. My thoughts are with you and his family.

I've started a new thread, per FireSoul's request.
It's HERE. (http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163379487.0.html)
