I just got the Animated Series off of Ebay for a really good price..
I have only seen 1 or 2 episodes on TV as a kid, and never got to see the whole Animated series.
Anyhow, I scanned the cover and shrank the size to fit on the boards...
Has anyone else seen these and if so, just how good are they.. I read that they won some awards.. emmy's I think.

I remember an episode or two from way back when I was a kids also, but not anough to say how good they are.

They're not too bad. You will notice a liberal re-use of incidental music and animations. Other than that it's something you can sit down with on Saturday morning and munch your Grape Nuts.

On par with most animated series from the 70's and 80's, think He-man, Space Ghost, Scooby Doo for animation style but with better writing. The downside was the low budget so you get to hear Nichelle Nichols and James Doohan a lot in secondary roles.

Way to go, man! TAS is awesome. If you are a TOS fan, you will probably love the animated ones. Personally, I think the stories are actually better than TOS, and because of the 23-minute runtime, they don't drag on at all. The settings and aliens are always neat, with the writers being able to do things that wouldn't be possible in a real action series-- the episode "Bem" is hilarious.
The music is pretty nice, even if they replay it a lot. After watching a few, you might have the "generic action" music with the fast strings and brass stuck in your head.
Probably the weakest spot in the series is that Kirk never gets the girl, but I may be wrong, I've only seen half of them. And some people on Youtube were angry at Chekov being replaced by "E.T.'s Grandmother."

Agreed! If you're a TOS fan you'll be in heaven. It's almost as good as discovering 22 new TOS episodes

I bought these about a year ago to watch with my boys (ages 9 & 10). We had a ball with them. I wish there was more!

Netflix'd them awhile back. Loved every minute.
Only thing that bothered me was the Scooby-Doo-ishness that predominated the animation. Half expected "those meddling kids" to make a cameo.
"Bem" is indeed a riot.
Kirk's girl is the E in this series. Thus, he always gets the girl. Probably because it was animated, and might have attracted a much younger than normal crowd, was the reasoning for this obvious lack of (racy for the era, but WAY toned down by our standards) "sexy time" scenes.
Gotta love the "yellow aura" that is their environment suits.

1974 and 1975 it won Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Entertainment - Children's Series.
TOS was nominated for 5 Emmys but won none.
