Hi all,
I'm playing around with some of the older, early- and mid-24th century Starfleet designs for my stories and I came across this orthographic for the never-seen Rigel-class by a Dutch guy (I think) named Rutger Warrink. I don't have his permission to use the image but a quick search for him didn't reveal any contact details. I was wondering if some kind soul was interested in making this rather cool-looking scout ship. I've had a look at several other conjectural designs for the Rigel class but this one strikes my aesthetics as the best one out there in terms of good design lineage, balance, and plain good looks. See for yourself:
I don't know what scale she's supposed to be, but based on the bridge module it may be around Cheyenne or New Orleans size.
I look forward to seeing your efforts!

IIRC this model was done and posted somewhere on the Newships website.

that is sbloyds, however it is very low res and does not have mvam (which looks hideous on this anyways) but when blackrook returns, or possibly someone else I know in BC, I had planned on requesting retex's and touchups for both and then running them by sbloyd for release...so maybe I can bump this up on my list of things to do.

That would be cool, Starforce. I's really like to get this for my own fleet. This may be a good first design to try to create on my own. Are there any tutorials you'd recommend for Milkshape, as the best I can currently do there is a Daedalus class with all the simple shapes.
I don't think the Rigel class has Multi-Vector Attack Mode, though. I think it's a simple saucer separation thing like The Galaxy class.

Thats really cool, im intrigued to see how the underside looks at different angles .. great find ;)

I've seen ships like this done before but I don't think I've seen them so clean. It'd be nice to see one of the masters stab at it. If anyone has seen this one done well can you please post a link, I would love to add this to my collection. thanks

Awesome, it looks like a ship my brother made, would you happen to know him?

I was just wondering if anyone has made a high-poly version of this ship yet?
According to Bernd Scnieder of Ex Astris Scientia:
The estimated dimensions (based on bridge module and lifeboats):
348m long
225m wide
84m high

High poly version?? The best you will find around these caves and holes is max 20,000 poly to fit in with the game engine here :P. High poly starts at 275,000 poly in my eyes, some games use 250,000 poly on some models as it is now.

Ah, well I guess all I'm really asking for is one that looks very accurate and pretty in SFC2. Has one like that been made of this design? I've just spent an hour looking but alas...
