Title: GSA etiquette question:
Post by: FPF-DieHard on July 05, 2008, 12:44:45 pm
Is alting out after you die acceptable behavior on GSA?  I know it can cause problems on D2 so we don't allow it.  Just curious, I might have judged some people too harshly.

Out of courtesy, I stay in the battle after death. After all, I would like to see how a game goes rather than just quitting. It's also a good place to look at other peoples' strategies without having to worry about one's own ship.

If they do alt out, it shouldn't cause any problems, at least with the simpler Free for All scripts. As long as the person didn't have to go somewhere or dropped, however, I think they should stay and see how it ends. More fun for everyone that way, especially when only one of your teammates is out there flying, you cheer them on, and it turns out your team wins.

Well, as long as it doesn't cause technical problems, like it can in D2, I guess I've no issue with it.

I'm greatly enjoying this "GSA Revival" and should be back Sunday night for more carnage.

people alting in gs doesn't seem to cause problems, but I usually stick around to be on the safe side.

Over the years I have seen it cause lag, or cause people to drop. When it does disrupt the game, lag seems to be the usual complication.

I had Krown Elf drag me out of a game the other night. We were losing anyway so it was no big deal, but I was trying to beat Dizzy up so that really sucked!

I've never crashed on GS from someone else alting, but I don't alt because its not fair to other players to take the risk of doing that because I sucked enough to get killed first.  That said, it is tempting when the survivors are engaged in a 2 hour long plasma ballet.
