Hey everyone.
I have placed the Taldren SFB books on eBay if anyone is interested:
http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/edge10_W0QQ_in_kwZ1
They were given to me when we were all laid off in 2003.
If anyone is cash rich and in the midwest, I have a professionally framed
EAW movie style poster I would part with as well. It is signed by thee crew.
Later,
Dave

You mean you had Module X1 and we still got THOSE X-ships?
-
Unfortunately I don't use Ebay currently.

I do.... ;)

Thanks everyone for looking (at this thread at least).
Die Hard, I really don't even remember how we implemented X-ships. I have moved
on with my life, but I will always have a soft place in my head and heart for SFC and the people
I met through the game.
Just a little background on why I am holding a 'fire sale'. Things at the Ferrell Hacienda
are fairly tight right now, and our dog Lacey was just diagnosed with mild congestive heart
failure (she is 14 and 1/2). Anyway we had a medium sized vet bill with another coming next
month. This coupled with the fact that I haven't looked at the SFB stuff in years and can't
see myself doing so anytime soon, makes them a natural garage sale candidate. I have already
sold one 1/350 scale Refit model :( and my 1/350 NX-01.
Thanks,
Dave

Throw in the OP source Code and I am sure we will have a winning bid :)

throw in the OP source Code and I would pitch in a hundred to the kitty to get it.

Dave has said he doesnt have it anymore...
IIRC...Ken yeast might have the last known data...
-
Guys, PLEASE do not ask Dave for the OP source.
JUST DON'T.
I've bid on it Dave, as I'd like to have as much of the SFC stuff as possible - I've already got a bunch of stuff from Magnum.
Send me a PM on how much you want for the poster.
Regards,

sorry, my reply wasn't meant as asking for it. Was just an off the cuff response. For I am "fairly" happy with what we have and the direction you guys are taking it. Sorry if it looked different.

A big thank you to both of you guys! If you have any special requests, shoot me an email.
Thanks,

I was tryin' to get it at the last minute, but you were higher. Oh, well maybe I'll have to get online and nuke you a few times (like that would happen, but one can dream). I guess I'll dig around my SFB stuff and see which ones are repeats now. Hope this helps out a bit Dave.

Here is a pic of the poster:

The image should be familiar.
Guess I should have turned off the lights?
Thanks,

Total impulse buy tonight, too. I thought, "Hmmm, i wonder what happened with that SFB stuff? I wouldn't mind filling in my collection". And I was just in time, too. Except for the second lot where I didn't get a high enough bid in, and it's got the Romulan stuff too. Imagine, a Romulan player like me having next to nothing in his ssd books. Yikes. Perhaps someday...
edit:
heh, at first look I thought "I don't remember those yellow saucers on the cover!"
-
At least you'll have a lot of loose SSDs. Those yellow folders are stuffed with em.
Thanks again,
Dave
-
LMAO...you pissed me off...I threw it up to a hundred bucks and just watched and laughed..
(THANK GOD IT DIDNT GO THAT HIGH OR THE WIFE WOULD HAVE KILLED ME)
-
Pay pal sent Dave....
If you could be so kind to maybe sign a book or two?
I would be honored... :notworthy:
-
DANG YE LAND LOVERS !!!!
I was pre-occupied with kehauling some wenches, and got out bid!!!!!
These would have gone great with the stuff Magnum sent me - the signed books, etc.
*sighs*
:-\
-
David,
I live in Chicago and would love to buy the poster if it is still available.
Thanks.

Well at least the stuff stayed in the family ;)

Holy crap, it's Dave. How the heck are you?
Meh, looks like I missed everything.

Hey Scott!
Doing well. Working at Carfax doing Java in an Extreme Programming (XP) environment.
It's a great place to work.
Hope all is well with you. Are you still with Dave (I love myself) Perry's group?
Later,
Dave
-
I was only kidding about the OP source.. I knew Dave didn't have it anymore.. hence the smiley..
Sorry if it came off the wrong way..
Glad to see you are doing well Dave.
Congrats on the job.

Oh sweet, everyone knows Carfax.
Dave "I like to pretend I'm a rock star even though I just make games" Perry was already long gone from Shiny by the time I left. Being the hell of a guy that he is, he bailed on us on the eve of Atari's difficulties while mumbling something about how he was going to help us from afar. Yeah. If by "help" he meant releasing fake press stories about vaporware Earthworm Jim games so that potential legal problems would force us to cancel our own EWJ game, on which I was leading, then thanks so much Dave Perry. If you're not busy later maybe you can kick me in the face.
Atari sold off their studios and we ended up going to Foundation 9 to do Golden Compass. I left while they were still working on that one. Since then they've assimilated the Collective (turnabout is fair play, I suppose) and now they're a giant game development army called... something I can't remember.
I took a few months off after that just to chill out and weigh my options. I tried the game industry again but my heart just wasn't in it. i didn't mind those hours when I was 26. But at 35, overtime can bite my shiny metal ass. So about six months ago I got a gig at a securities trading firm. I do a mix of financial analysis (predict the future of banks) and systems that revolve in some way around bond trading. It's boring but I'm outta' there at 2:30 and they've never even heard of nights or weekends. There are a couple of IT guys in the house but I'm the only software guy, which is kinda' groovy.
Sorry to hear about the doggie. Hope the rest of the family is well.
-
Sounds like a sweet job, but now I know who to blame for the financial crisis.
I was over reading your site last night and I can one-up you: Apparently I was in a Biography of
Jack Nicholson in addition to working on SFC, according to IMDB.
The family is doing OK, but $hit sometimes life is hard. :(

Wow. Lots of old timer names here. Brings back a few memories from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Wait, sorry. wrong reference. LOL
-
Got my books today!...thanks Dave!
-
Dave, thank you and the guys at Taldren for making a great game. This is still my favorite of all time and I can't wait until SFCIV comes out.
-
Got my books today!...thanks Dave!
Cool, glad to hear it. Emerald Edges books should be there tomorrow or Monday.
Thanks,
Dave
-
Yipee! Got mine today. Thanks a bunch, Dave. I'm havin' a ton of fun going through these.
-
I hope you found the Romulan print. I put it in the top folder several pages back.
Glad to hear they both made it fast and safe.
Thanks again,
Dave
-
Yep, I found it. Thanks again, I saw stuff in it that I didn't even remember was there.
