I did not read Opus much since the papers in my area didn't seem to carry it, but I was a big fan of Bloom County.  A very funny comic strip.

I am a huge Bloom County fan.  And I hate Breathed's constant, flaky, retirements.  I think he's a guy who wants to write 'sweet, childlike' cartoons, but just doesn't have the talent for that that he does for political satire.  That said, I wish him well in his new endeavors.

I'll miss Opus, though not as much as I miss Bloom County, with what I consider the greatest comic strip cast.  Sure, he brought some back for Outland and Opus, but never the whole shebang.

I could never get into Outland, but Bloom County was one of two can't miss comics in the 80's and early 90's, the other being The Far Side(which IMHO, is still the most twisted and funny of all time).

There is a special place in Hell for that comment...where programmers go and the keyboards only have zeros

Bender: Ahhh, what an awful dream. Ones and zeroes everywhere... and I thought I saw a two.
Fry: It was just a dream, Bender. There's no such thing as two.
