If it wasn't April Fools day I would have to hit the warning button over such obvious trolling.

As it is:

Spaceballs is definitely the best SF film Mel Brooks ever produced!  Damned funny, too!

Yah, stayed up and watched that one too.
The only other movie that has influenced Sci-Fi as much would be the orginal "the day the earth stood still"

If you watch it remember that it was filmed in the 1950's when the "rubber monster" and giant animals were the norm.  The production qualities of Forbidden Planet were those of a giant surrounded by dwarves when compared to most other SciFi of the time.  Only a few even approached it.

It also had Leslie Neilsen in a dramatic role.  It was the movie that originated Robbie the Robot though "he" was to appear in many other films over the years.

It is well worth the buy price, and a good watch. You will be surprised at how many scenes from this movie have gone on to others. It is another of those 1950 classics of the cinemia screen days, it was released in 1951.

if you have a few free hours I would suggest this one, for rent, to anyone who like Sci-Fi.
VeiwMe (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001EZE5BK?tag=ecoladirectories). The remake with Keanu Reeves special effect wise is great to see but other than that not worth a view.

And by the way Forbidden planet was released in 1956, and the effects they used were ahead of there time.
