they pulled it off cause Disney now owns the rights to Captain America and all other Marvel super heros. (DIsney bought Marvel Comics for $4 billion.) put the story in Hot and Spicy.

The book has been great since Steve Rogers died -  they are bringing him back too soon and with a less plausible explanation than they used for Jason Todd.

Hopefully they'll leave Bruce Wayne dead for another 2 years -  the Dick Grayson Batman books have been really good so far.

Anyone been watching Wolverine and the X-men? I've been really amazed at how complex it has gotten already. They haven't even finished the first season yet and they already have had Master Mold and the Sentinels, Wolverine vs The Hulk, The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Genosha, Mojo and Spiral, The Weapon X Project, The Mutant Registration Act, a cameo by Mr. Sinister and the future storyline with Bishop. By the end of the season they will have Angel turned into Archangel, The Phoenix Saga (at least a truncated version of it anyway) and they will begin The Age of Apocalypse storyline (with more of Mr. Sinister). The amazing thing is that they have managed to tie most of all that together into a cohesive storyline that is connected by events and characters that weren't happening/together in the comics.

i caught 2 episodes of this and it's not bad at all -  nothing compares to the DCAU (90s Batman Animated series through JLU) though.

Bruce Wayne died in Final Crisis (frucking horrible story) in a battle against Darkseid.   Though there was a body which was buried and all that they've left a loophole for him to come back.

The current batman is the first Robin; Dick Grayson.   The current Robin is Damien Wayne, the son of Bruce Wayne and Talia Al Ghul.  So far the stories have been excellent, they've got good writers on the books.

Check out the episode Future X. You'll change your mind when you see Bishop and Domino in action. They repeat them to death so you can still catch the whole season.

Oh heck I forgot they had The Shadow King and Silver Samurai too.

Just a plug for a friend, but if anyone is still reading comics, get "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep".  Went to high school with the artist. ;)

On my reading front, I've just started going back to the comic shop after a decade hiatus.  I've been reading some of the Ed Brubaker stuff.  Criminal and Incognito.  I've been afraid to even attempt jumping back into the Marvel train (except I have to pick up Captain Britain and MI13 because the Cap was one of my old faves from back in the day).  Things have changed so much, it's rediculous, and I can't keep track of all these alternate universe things.

Brubaker's Captain America run has been outstanding.  The current Avengers books are good as well, mutants are all a bloody mess so i won't read their books at all.   Best Marvel book is 'The Incredible Hercules."

Speaking of Batman, and thanks Diehard,

I know I've posted this before, but man I wish they would make it into a real movie.

Grayson is out to avenge Batmans death.

Steve (and the rest of the world) - buy or illegally download "Kingdom Come."  it's by far the best "dark future" story ever told in the "Super Hero" genre.

ill do man. Might as well ask here also, There was once a DC story about Superman going off to the middle of the sun to meditate, Brood whatever he really wanted to do cause hell he's super man...

Anyway, what was the name of that story line? Was it Kingdom come?

Check out Hulk vs. Two stories... one against Wolverine is just what you'd expect. The one against Thor throws a really good twist in there. I would also highly recommend Justice League - New Frontier and Wonder Woman. I hear they are working on Batman/Superman Public Enemies right now.

I had seen both Hulk and the wonder woman one not too long ago. Your right, the one with Thor was very well written.

Yeah that new one Supes/Bats Public enemy looks pretty good also.

If Public Enemies stays close to the story from the comics it's gonna be great -  the books were excellent.  New Frontier was great, Wonder Woman was good as well.

"Green Lantern:  First Flight" sucked big black donkey balls.   GL's got the best books in DC right now and they released this piece of crap?   Not a good idea when you got a big-budget Hollywood movie in production for the same title.  Nothing important to the character was mentioned, fear, will-power, etc . . . and Jordan was a cardboard cutout.

Steven -  that wasn't in "Kingdom Come."  Trust me though, the story is amazing.

No, all they have to do is detonate an A-bomb over the filming site to resurrect Bambi as a mutant super deer.

Dude that was an awesome story.

Never thought I would see Religion interwoven so nicely into a comic book.

The Walt Disney Company’s proposed $4 billion acquisition of Marvel Entertainment may come with a headache: a brand-new superhero copyright dispute.

Heirs to the comic-book artist Jack Kirby, who has been credited as the co-creator of characters and stories behind Marvel mainstays like the “X-Men” and “Fantastic Four,” among many others, last week sent 45 notices of copyright termination to Marvel, Disney, Sony Pictures, Universal Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures and others who have been making films and other forms of entertainment based on the characters.

Am I wrong in thinking a movie of this would just give Warner a license to print money?

Not at all man. IT would be an instant classic, bringing all the roles into one Grandiose story.

I've got that Public enemies ordered on NEtflix. I hope that's worth a few hours of tv time.

Don't know.

My understanding is that they tried it with Watchmen, it did well, but it didn't do quite as well as would be expected.

Would people flock to a story about a old superman? One that needs the spectre, deals with DC's version of the afterlife,
peronally I'd love to see it.
Not sure the commercial success is thre though.

That's because people didn't want to see Dr. Manhattan's blue %^&* hanging out
