Title: OP Won't take CD Key...
Post by: FoaS_XC on October 20, 2009, 05:48:40 pm
We've been trying to get OP to install on his laptop.
He does not have admin rights on it, but I do.

I installed it by running the program as the admin. It would not accept the CD Key, so I run StarfleetOP.exe as the admin and entered the CD key... whenever we run starfleetop.exe as his user account, it keeps asking for the CD Key, even if we enter a proper one.

Does one have to have admin rights to just play OP?!?

Wow, late reply, but the simple solution I expect would be to install as the user that runs it? Or did you try that? In which case it may be possible to replicate the cd key registry entry to the appropriate user hive.

maybe it's not written properly.
try this one and write it exactly the way it is:
* SNIP * ADMIN EDIT *
And put the lines between them too.

cheers.

Never post your CD Key online (or anyone else's for that matter).  EVER. I will take no disciplinary action (yet) but I'm not happy.

I know. That is the elephant in the room here. We kinda have to deny its existence in order to protect our own integrity. (I have had several taken down in the past, but I do not have the time energy or authority to chase them all down) I don't mean to be too harsh but we have a future to protect, I hope you understand.

probably, but you can try to make your user as the admin, if the computer is yours.

Usually, this issue is a result of the following:

1.) You haven't edited the shortcut to add the "Start in" section.

You need to do this or you'll also get issues with Fighter control and other issues.

2.) You haven't change the shortcut to point to "starfleetop.exe" instead of the default one.

See #1.

If all else fails, try alt -tabing out, and then back into the screen. This sometimes works if you have the shortcut set correctly.
