hello Dynaverse community.
I recently was playing SFCII OP and it got me in the mood to build a new model for it. a re-imagined centaur class to be exact. I may need help in getting her in game. I am happy with it so far, do you like? anything i should add to it?
The torpy lauchers will be located on the underside. I have shorter fatter pylons with integrated impulse assembly. Fighter bay will be located to the aft.
I have deleted all images as of 1st October 2010 and you can see the latest ones on page 2 thank you.
-
Good work so far mate.
-
I have finished the model.
I decided to not make a torpy area on the bottom because it looked too old fashioned. I want this to look like a lost era ship. between the excelsior and amby class :) Now I am happy with the look and lines of her she is very aggressive, so will start textures now.
EDIT
Oops the underside
-
That is looking good
The Photon launcher in the later years was more like a single point and not a big bay by that time. You could very easily make it simular to the Sovergn (SP?) Class and put the launcher in the center of the lower part on the saucer

Very good idea :) I will do that. Thank you.

ok thanks to GotAFarmYet, Torpy is in place, in a dual formation. The structure underneath, is the main shuttle housing. Somewhat like the Capt yacht, but not just for him. Fighters and shuttles come out the rear, but the bottom houses a bigger diplomatic craft, suitable for it's needs.

Model looks good. I have a feeling though that somehow, for a newb around here, you managed to keep the poly count on this model within range of what most people here would want.
*grabs shotgun and loads rubber chicken shells and thinks for a moment*
-
Thanks Centurus. It is clean (one object) and its count is 1958 Poly's. I like to keep them clean and low poly so it is easier on the mapping :)
-
*finishes shooting at black holes* Under 2k polys. Not bad.
-
-
Thanks
Not allot to show, but this took a few hours to map right and here is where i am at.
-
Nice gridlines. I would worry about poly-count though. Awesome design nonetheless.
-
Hella sweet job for under 2k in poly Looks real smooth there
-
Nice start on those textures, the name mandible is quirky too ;)
-
Hello again Dynaverse,
this ship is not forgotten but with real life i have not had time to work on the mandible. but i have a free night so i want to finish the saucer if i can.
a belated happy 4th to all us members sorry i was not here on the day.
-
Coming along nicely.
-
Looking great!
-
Hello Dynaverse community :)
This model is not forgotten, but time is something I do not have allot of. Thank you geezers for your comments.
-
I have done a little more to show you all.
-
ooh - digging that blue treatment :)
-
Thanks, It will be added to certain areas of the ship. Its a design cue i'm going to borrow from yourself and adonis with a bit of wicked zombie in there too. markyd showed me all you guys texturing techniques and i'm trying to blend them.
-
I think I need to reduce the window count. But I do have an itch to make some escape hatches so will make some before i start on the deflector array.
-
I concour on that window count - it needs to be a breakup, not a constant pattern.

I third that notion. Also that upper blue rim looks like it could do with a chamfer.
Great work on the model mate, I have not had time to get on MSN and chat with ya for a while but its manic here at the minute. Hopefully we can catch up soon.
Great work, keep it going.
-
This is really nice! On the windows, I think the placement is fine, leave the number and frequency be, but to break it up, I would light up random windows, and leave some dark.
-
That might do it - but I'm tempted to point at the excelsior and say "Do something like that, but keep the size of windows you are working with"
-
I'd go with the excelsior look.
-
Same.. if you're going Lost Era, take some cues from the Excelsior.
PS: Lighting windows is a great place to put in family and friends on your textures.. as well as LOLCats, scenes from movies, centerfolds, and David Carradine. ;)
Long time back, I did a Terran Empire Okinawa with a "mime-in-a-box" (mime in an open to space cargo hold with atmosphere held in with force field).. really lets you play around and have some fun.
You could even take some convention crowd shots if you wanted, you'll be the only one to know. >=)
-
I agree with all your comments :) Thanking you all.

I love that idea.
I have rebuilt some new necelles after reading some of the earlyer posts in regard to them, also re shaped the pylon area and now I am working on a new bridge section before I continue with textures.
I would like to do a Klingon ship next.
-
I liked how you had them before.
-
Thanks :D
Not going back though, after rebuilding them and getting them meshed into my model properly took a few hours, that and the chamfer I needed for the upper bit of the saucer has caused so much work. Infact an entire re map >:(
Does look better though with the new bridge too. Will post a pic soon. :smitten:
-
Ouch,
making that upper rim smooth took too long, after doing it and cleaning up afterward I had to re do my entire uvw map :(
Its done now and MarkyD was right it looks sooooo much nicer :smitten: finished the new less bulky bridge too.
-
Looking good man

Yeah looks good. When are you going to come over and fix waffle iron for FV?
-
Thanks Starfox1701,
Age, thank you too but I am not sure what you mean about a waffle and Iron? Are you suggesting the model is too flat?
I think I have the illumination on the windows the correct colour :-\
-
I think I have done all I can this evening. I am sorry that updates are progressively slow, but I want this to be right as I imagine it to be.
-
Window illum colour looks good, looks like you're starting to add in textures in there?
(edit: Also, just saw the pics of your current status.. looking awesome. :D
The way I think aboutthe stuff I work on is how it'd look with a scene behind it. Starfields, planet, shipyard, battle. That kind of idea. The above shot looking down had me thinking, "planetary rings below the ship", so that's looking fantastic. :)
-
Yes very nice

No just little message to MarkyD.It is looking good.
-
Just to let you all know, work continues on the Mandible, work is keeping me very busy at the minute but I like to squeeze in some time for her when I can.
-
Nice work mate. You should post that at BCC im sure they would like that too ;)
-
Looking good,
but......
(I know it is a nit pick)
The windows on a TNG ship were more of a vertical than horizontal, that narrow and tall look
-
Beautiful.
-
Thanks guys.
GotAFarmYet, that is very true about the windows but I really like them they way they are. Will remember that next time though.
-
Heh. You should see the drapes the Captain's wife picked out.
Looks great!
