Two sciFi disaster films to commemorate the end of the world yesterday. So If your still around, place your vote.
Independence Day (1996) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116629/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116629/)
VS.
Armageddon (1998) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120591/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120591/)

Since blowing up the asteroid is the worst thing you can do, I have to go for Independence Day.
-
Independence day for me. I liked Will Smith in that one (and MiB 1 for that matter)
-
Easy enough, Armageddon is the worst film ever made. (Though Independence Day is not for behind.)
-
Independence Day, while uploading a virus might be cheesy it was still a good movie.
-
I've never seen Armageddon so I'll abstain.
The captured alien fighter automatically returning and docking with the mothership was first done in a book by A.E. van Vogt (Empire of the Atom or its sequel). In that case however it was not a computer virus used against the ship but what I believe was the prototype for the AD&D Sphere of Annihilation which "absorbed" the crew and left the starship to be captured and converted to human use.

Easy enough, Armageddon is the worst film ever made.
Say that after watching The Spirit.

wait, I'm confused: the poll's for "best worst movie" or "worst movie?"
Or is it just the evil of two lessers?
Viewing it as a schlock-fest, Armageddon is up there with Plan 9 From outer Space for chuckles. When i saw it on the theaters, and Ben Affleck was driving a toy truck over Liv Tyler's belly, I couldn't stop laughing...
You know, add some quirky music and sound effects and this thing becomes a comedy! I... I...
still can't vote for the damn thing...

Hmm... These were both TERRIBLE movies but I must admit they were both guilty pleasures.
And frankly independence day had some good sci-fi concepts - just executed them all ludicrously over the top hollywood style.
I find on a lazy sunday I will sometimes watch a good chunk of independence day again - if it happens to be on - but the only part of Armageddon I can stand to watch is the beginning when the first meteor shower hits and the top brass discusses the initial problem.
So Independence day takes this one for me - by a good margin.

But, but.. Lone Star was the president and the schwartz was with him. How can you not vote for ID?
