Title: Stargate Atlantis - Gate bridge critical defect.
Post by: Nemesis on January 29, 2012, 04:54:59 pm
When the Wraith activate the gate bridge they get the coordinates of at least the 1st intergalactic gate.  Draw a line from it as it points straight at the Milky way.  So much for the "secret" of Earth's location.

Also even without using the human gate bridge given time they can build their own.  Send out a ship with the required number of gates.  Stop place, a gate and send for supplies.  Continue to next spot, place gate, send for supplies.  Even if it took a century for the total flight the Wraith could do it easily given resupply through their new gate bridge.

But, the wraith can't remain active that long.  The Pegasus galaxy doesn't have enough humans to sustain them.

Not the first gate, the first gate in the bridge.

If the wraith had the ability to clone humans in sufficient numbers to sustain their population for a century, they wouldn't need to hibernate.

Growing rate vrs use ? who says clones grow any faster than normal?  Also what is the Drug for the wraith needed from humans> Adults seem to be the key?   Spin spin spin it all fun.  :crazy2:

The wraith feed on life energy.  The Pegasis galaxy only has enough humans to support them for long term.  The solution they came up with was for most of the population to go into hibernation while a small group stayed active to prevent the humans from attacking the sleepers.  When the population sufficiently recovered, the wraith could glut themselves, breed, and go back to sleep.  In the pilot for Atlantis, Shephard killed the keeper which triggered the entire wraith population to wake up prematurely.  Because of that, the galaxy doesn't have enough people to support them.

You mean they can't drain the life out of any other humanoid form?It make for an interesting question what if the borg succeeded in assimilating everyone.

I missed the part in Stargate and Atlantis where the wraith get involed.

Its not the Borg's goal to assimilate everyone.  In fact, they rejected the Kazon as they felt the Kazon would bring them farther from perfection.

There seem to be fewer intelligent species in Pegasus (it is a dwarf galaxy).  Off hand I recall the "fog creatures", humans, wraith, replicators and Asgard.  Possible intelligent species include the lantean "whales" and the crystal creatures.  Of these the wraith can definitely feed on humans and wraith.  They may be able to feed on Asgard as well.  The common factor seems to be having significant amounts of human DNA.
