As of today, George Lucas has sold all of Lucasfilm to a mouse... Mickey Mouse that is!

As noted in the article, this could be bad news for fan films in the Star Wars universe. Lucas encouraged these, while Disney has a record of being very protective of their licenses.
I have mixed feelings on this one. While I think the Star Wars franchise could definitely benefit from fresh eyes and a new approach, franchises that are 'reimagined' often don't work out very well...

"Locking out" fans from making "contributions" to the Star Wars universe would be an epic mistake. SW would've been dead decades ago without those efforts, just another "old movie".
"We didn't ascribe any value to the Indiana Jones franchise as part of this acquisition," Iger said later on in the call, suggesting no further installments of that franchise is on the horizon.
That's a shame also. Indiana Jones could last as long as the James Bond franchise with the same mindset used there.

They already irrevocably killed that franchise with Indiana Jones and the aliens.

That's what reboots are for. Reset the "first" film in the '20's, which gives you ten years of material before Temple of Doom. Bond gets new actors in new eras all the time and not an eye is batted. Same would work for Jones.

Well, I thought Daniel Craig was a horrible choice for Bond. I mean, he's blonde, and to make matters worse, his first film was supposed to be set at the beginning of Bond's career, and I felt he was too old to play the role convincingly.

Muhahahahahahahah.....................HAH!

And yet that film broke multiple records for the series.

They'd also have to get the license from Marvel.
-
I think that would be easy to do, esp. after the last Disney hit, The Avengers.

Back to Star Wars, after episodes 1-3, I'm kind of luke warm to the idea of another live action Star Wars film. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing a Han shot first re-release of the original trilogy.

I really can't see how Disney can do anything worse than Lucas himself did. I mean, the original edit of Episode IV was probably the best fantasy film ever made. Unfortunately, Lucas had to revisit the film and turn perfection into a sticking dog turd. I won't go into it. Episode IV was a travisty, and Episodes 1, 2, & 3 were collections of cliches'. How can Disney mess this up?

The Muppet show was funny before Disney take them, then it was kinda lame.
Darth Mikey Mouse will Battle the Young and bad temper Donal Duck. Oh wait I mean, no I was thinking about daisy. Yea that's it. Darth Donal Duck and Amidala Daisy Duck. Young Luck Mikey Mouse. the wookiee would be Big Bird.
The rebel are the Muppet show troop and the empire are the Sesame street troop.
Star muppet war XX, :buck2: :buck2: :buck2:

Goofy is Han Solo hands down.

Have you guys seen the new Thor film? The Dark Elf attack on Asgard looks like something that was ripped out of a Star Wars film.

Pffft, Disney is 1 step away from TOTAL DOMINATION... all they need to do is buy DC and it's DONE.

I don't see Time-Warner ever agreeing to let go of DC.
