Title: Putting the Start button back in Windows 8... for a price.
Post by: Javora on November 16, 2012, 07:13:21 am
People who have Windows 8 can have the Start button back on their OS.  Here's the catch, you have to pay $5 to Stardock (http://www.stardock.com/products/start8/) and install their their program on to your system.  This program does not rely on Registry hacks so this program isn't as susceptible to Microsoft as other programs are.

IMHO if I had a desktop that ran Win 8, I think I'd be tempted...

This is free and better!

http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/ (http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/)

Been around longer to give different version of windows the different styles of start menus they've had over time.

I did use it for a few months during the Win 8 beta, but now I am used to the new stuff. I haven't installed it on the RTM since it's been out.
