A while back I bought the DVD of the old movie Project Moonbase. If you look at the disk with a file manager the disk name is "Project Moobase". It is now safely on my HD collection and the DVD is boxed up in storage.

WoW, I hadn't thought of that movie in a long time. Isn't that the one with the guy trying to destroy the base? Doctor Wiener or something like that?
It was a good movie, that's for sure.

The answer is yes and no. It was Doctor Wernher but he was trying to use the first lunar orbiting flight to destroy a space station that gave the U.S. military dominance by ramming it with the lunar orbiting ship. The ship must then land (or crash) and lacks the fuel to return and the decision is to convert the landing to a base.

That's right, it's coming back to me now. It must have been almost 30 years ago when I last that movie. Heck, I had forgotten the name of it also, until you mentioned it.
We used to have on Friday Nights, a scary movie show on ABC, back in the late 70's early 80's. everything from the classic Universal movies, to Godzilla films, but every now and then they would slip in an old Sci Fi show. I'm sure that is where I saw it.

I'd heard of it but never seen it until a few weeks ago. Interesting but dated. Using a woman as the first person to orbit the Earth to save weight was a novel idea at the time I'm sure.
