I have two set of Altec Lansing 2.1 speakers vs4121, but if i touch the wire I get a crouching sound.
So m looking for a replacement and I don't want scrap that sound like a garbage can. I don't need a 5.1 surround that cost a lot and are useless.
I just need good speaker to play music and can handle loud music and keep quality. I don't remember how much I paid for them and would like something similar.

How much are you wanting to spend now? That affects any recommendations I may have.

Well maybe a 100$ for a pair.
A simple 2.1 speaker system do a good job. Surround sound are just a gimmick to make you spend more on a few added sound effect that are not available in all movies.
Beside I did have a home theater system 5.1 and I have play movies in it, but the surround is not really there.
Since its mostly for music, I need good sound. Place are limited and I can't play loud. Also a plug for headphone on it would be great since the tower is too far to connect the headphone on it.

Given the price point I think this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121036) might be your best option. Keep in mind that speakers seem to have a higher than average defective rate than other computer parts so if you are not happy with it when you set it up, return it and try another set. Hope this helps.

I found on Kijiji speakers like I have, from 35$ to 65$
Will see next year to buy them, but I will try them before and see how they perform.
