Title: Jurassic Park 3D
Post by: knightstorm on April 23, 2013, 10:01:40 pm
I just saw the 3D re-release of Jurassic Park.  It was good, but it could have been better.  Some scenes like the ones with the raptors seem to have been converted with alot of care, but others like the brachiosaurus don't seem to have been done as well.  In particular, I found the T-Rex chase scene to be a disappointment.

I wasn't terribly disappointed, and glad that they seemed to be trying to be subtle in the conversion, I think. And, it's a good movie, it holds up well, unlike the sequels. There are some good moments where they just pause to go "Holy Crap! Dinosaurs!" before resuming the plot.

I read a recent article on the making of it in "Entertainment Weekly," and Sam Neill said that, in the scene where they come across the triceratop under sedation, no one was "acting," they were all just reacting to the amazing mechanical props.

I just wish they had done the car chase better.  If there was any scene in the film that was begging for a full 3d makeover it was that one.

I could believe that.  I remember going to the Triceratops encounter at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure.
