Title: Media player
Post by: Don Karnage on January 29, 2014, 10:13:54 am
Hello

I'm looking for a media player that will work for some movies.

I have VLC and here the problem with some video and movies. (http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg106/DonKarnage1/Photo0718_zpsa3861035.jpg) (http://s246.photobucket.com/user/DonKarnage1/media/Photo0718_zpsa3861035.jpg.html)

I have Gom player but it show a line in the screen like a burn pixel. I also have UMPLayer, but there a problem with the syncro sound image.

I have try media player but it can't read the movies. Real player never work since 1998 and windows media player well its Microsoft, so you never have the right extension/patch to read a movies.

So if you know a media player that work, tell me.

What issues are you having with VLC, and what are you trying to play? I use VLC regularly to check my exports but I'm not "watching" movies or stuff on it. I used DivX media player back when I was on a Mac (2011), and I heard about "metro Media Player" recently but haven't used it yet -it's for Win8.1, btw

The problem you can see in on the image I upload. Like a blur on the screen, but its not the movie it self that have that trouble, if I reduce VLC and move it, the "blur" stay at the same place, on the right of the screen.

The movies are : It's a Wonderful Life (1946), Lilo and Stitch (2002) [1080p], Sherlock Holmes (2009) [1080p]. So far those are the only movies that give me problem.

No tv series, cartoons have given me problem. I did  have the same problem with a video from youtube, I did view it before and I did not have that problem. EMG Mk 1X Gramophone   three horn acoustic test ! is the video that game me problem last time I wanted to view it.

Media Player Classic is all you will ever need.

are you playing straight from DVD, or is it a ripped file? mp4? wmv? m2v? It might be a codec issue with those films. There are times when I've had VLC act a little buggy for no damn reason.

Someone I know had a few problems with lag with MP Classic but I've never used it myself. I suppose I should dload it to reasearch this misself ::)

(edit) Did that, tried it out. I really do like Media Player Classic and plan to keep it, but it doesn't like some of my older WMVs (that VLC plays fine). MPC plays HD footage with no problems

If you are playing at 1080p one possibility is that the video card just can't handle it.

I want to update the driver for the video card, but all I found are crap. My card is [AMD/ATI] Rage 128 PRO AGP 4x TMDS. I try at ATi but the driver detective software is a sh*t, you have to pay to download the drivers. Nothing says anything about it on the website and you can't find a driver on the site.

Plus there are other hardware that seem to need a new driver. http://www.touslesdrivers.com/index.php?v_page=31 (http://www.touslesdrivers.com/index.php?v_page=31) there are too many choice I don't know what to download. I don't want to mess up and be unable to use the com.

So I would required live help to find out what I need and don't need.
