Random help requested:
I have recently installed DX9 (thanks to Freelancer...) and now SFC3 says: "you must have DX8 or greater!" and quits?
I'm downloading the patch today, does it fix the fact that games would "stop" and not progress in time anymore after a while? I want to play an open-ended single player campain, but I noticed after a while that the time bar stops moving and the enemy races no longer move around, so there is no chance of losing the game. It looked to be a known issue, but I don't see it in the list of fixes for the Beta patch.
Help greatly appreciated! Its going to rain all day tomorrow and I don't have a computer game to play (Is there no God???)

EDIT: I'm going to go ahead and answer my first question - there is a patch for SFC3 and DX9 -
http://www.activision.com/downloads/409.asp
My remaining question: does the beta patch fix the fact that time stops in the single player campaign? Thanks!

If you install the beta patch you don't need the DX9 patch.
Get the beta patch, it fixes alot of bugs including the time stop one.

Well I downloaded the patch and the DX9 error went away, but the time STILL stops in the campaign. I have done 7 missions and the time has stopped and all friendly and enemy ships just sit where they are. It worked for a while, then died.
If the time isn't going to work then single player campaigns are worthless, since its no different than just playing single missions. Too bad too, it looked like fun and I'm not up to the multiplayer D3 anymore.
I hope it gets fixed in the final patch, please?

Which patch did you install the DX9 or the beta?
-
Apparantely, the time restarts whenever you buy a new ship (I haven't tested it, so I can't say for certain).
It may work if you buy a ship of the same class as your current ship as well, would help solve the problem.

I installed the Beta patch, since I read that it included the DX9 fix.
I'll try buying a new ship. I also noticed that sometimes after restarting the whole game, it will kick off the time again, but only for a while, then it dies again.
I moved all the way through Romulan space, avoiding any contact, from the left to the right and back again and the time did not restart. Then I did some missions, time did not restart. Restarted the application, time restarted, went through turns, stopped again.

Guess the time stops in conquest with the patch.
