BUMP?
-
Any chance the old forum contents can be made available, perhaps even for sale?
Cripes! I hope it's not gone for good. There was a lot of great material in there I never got around to saving to my hard drive! And today I was just thinking, "maybe I ought to go get that stuff before it vanishes."

Actually, this is interesting
http://208.57.228.3/ubb/Forum11/HTML/012629.html
If I change that 3 to a 4, you get
http://208.57.228.4/ubb/Forum11/HTML/012629.html
But it doesn't work for the homepage
-
actually, if you go to the main URL, you get the output of the perl script of UBB boards..
.. which is copywrited.

Someone over there needs to fix that.

Thank you! This is a ray of hope that I might be able to grab the posts I want to save. Using your above info, I'm sure I should be able to figure out how to get to the old D2 forums. But I haven't worked it out yet. Anyone have any hints?

Luckily my fast thinking saved this thread
http://208.57.228.4/ubb/Forum2/HTML/007837.html
You have to change the 3 to a 4 for each page
-
Hmm
It stopped before my futile attempt to get the last post
It had around 15 pages, didn't it?

Right, got it worked out. If I change the 007837 to 007838, I get to see the thread that was started in the Dynaverse forum after this one. Geez, without the search engine, that means I've got 10's of thousands of threads to cycle through to find the ones I want. <gulp> Looks like I picked a bad week to stop sniffing glue.
Best get some sleep and get started tomorrow.......

BUMP!
Cycling through the old posts manually is possible, but last night proved very painstaking. heh. I can and will do it, and I appreciate that the information is still there for the patient. But if the forum wasn't taken down intentionally then it would be nice to get it back up. (If it was taken down intentionally, I suppose I'd best work fast before the individual threads vanish.
)

Does anyone have the link to the SFC3.net forums
I get an error when I try to access their main page

I appear to be missing Fan Fiction
Also, not every post is in every forum (or, at least, there are 404 errors along the way)

Here is the final word from Taldren about the olf Forums (Dave, thanks again for the response
)
I asked him if there was a way to access them and his response was
Quote:
No.
I had hoped that they would be accessible, but the software doesn't
want to cooperate.
Thanks,
Dave
So that's the final word
At least its nice to know
-
Were you able to find the Fan Fiction forum?
Thanks
Po
-
No
I've given up trying.
Either it has a different number of digits on the end, or I'm just not thinking of something
-
This is a link to my Ship Names by Race post on the old Fan Fiction Forums.
http://208.57.228.3/ubb/Forum7/HTML/000237.html
Unfortunately, it no longer works.
It does tell us that Fan Fiction was Forum 7 - but we may have completely lost that Forum.
