Hi,
having trouble fleshing out a ship, and was hoping the community could help me out.
What I have:
Nickname : Foxle
Prototype shipname: FBT ? 01
Size: roughly 2* defiant??
What I don?t have:
Who made this ship, and why. Is this a prototype or production?
Name / registry
Weapons loadout
Also, what do you all think? I?ve enjoyed the great ships everyone?s made for the SFC series, but never knew how to make em. I finally took a vacation from work to learn MAX and this is a result.
Thnx

all i can say is that the design is good and it reminds of a SFB carrier
-
Looks sweet. What kind of ship is it? Battleship, light cruiser, or what?
-
I would say somewhere in the ballpark of destroyer.
it's got 3 gun mounts and 4 torpedo bays.
what size does it look?
-
My advice to you, make it a 'recon carrier' one-two squadron carrier or scaled down appropriately, you know what I mean.
-
Looks like a Pirate ship to me, but again, thats me

Damnation-Class Destroyer
NX - 6170

you could make it really really fast and name it the Mercury or something similiar. (Mercury was the guy with the winged sandals right?
-
Mercury was one and I think the other was Hermes or Hermies. However you spell that I'm pretty sure he was the other one.
-
They're the same "guy". The Greeks had him first and called him Hermes. He got absorbed into the Roman pantheon and the Latins called him Mercury. (... and then DC Comics put a WWI helmet on him and called him the Flash...
)
-
Great design, but may I recommend more faces on the fowrard curveture of the hull?
For some reason the name "Ranger" comes to mind...
The recon carrier idea is an excellent suggestion, in my opinion.
-
Yeah, it's a little choppy in front. I realized after 1/2 done with textures and did'nt want to go bach and change. Chalk it up to a learning experience and won't do it next time.
Ranger, I like it! But I also loke the idea of a fast ship from hermes. Maybe a fast ship called the ranger? Kind of a light-medium strength fast scout?
-
I have always been partial to the USS Indianapolis after the WWII cruiser that was lost at the end of the war.
Oh, did I mention I live there?

LOL your right!
As I was typing that post I was trying to remember what the Greeks had called Mercury. Thanks.

For those that may worry about these things...
The "Hermes Class Scout" is listed in the original Franz Joeseph Technical Manual. It's the One-warp engine sister ship to the one-warp engine Federation destroyer...
So, either the Mercury class or Ranger-class may be appropriate for this ship...

I would suggest going to a naval site and browsing shipnames for destroyers or similar sized vessels untill you find one to your liking. Mythology is another way. THings like "Thors Hammer" ect. Really it all boils down to the name you like. After all the work you put into it, you should like the name you give it.
-
hey, i missed that last post. Yah, I finally went the mythology route, took a detour at thesarus and extied at Amnesty.
you know what they say' " great minds think alike- or sick ones" j/k
