This is similar to what I have. Warning, you need to meet the following criteria:
- You want the absolute ULTIMATE gaming experience
- You're not prone to motion sickness.
- You are not married....or, if you are married, your wife has infinite patience and you have your own room to put this in.
I have an InFocus system that shoots a 120" by 120" image to a pulldown screen. I watch TV through my Radeon card on the PC as well as play SFC. My wife allows this because she has her own TV. <-- This is an important point if you go with this setup. Take it from SghnDubh's school of hard knocks.

I have a Viewsonic PF-790 and it does just fine for gaming and video, I found it's sharpness rather lacking for text though. And I don't know about anyone else's PF-790, but the corners are blurry. I've fiddled with every control I found trying to make it better, and it still looks too fuzzy. It's ok in the middle, but I was annoyed enough with it, that I ended up buying a 19" Sony Trinitron A440-HMD flat CRT and it's a lot better. Nice, crystal clear text, and not a blurry spot to be found. I was using the Viewsonic on my second computer, but I ended up getting an Omniview switch to go back and forth between them, so my Viewsonic is not currently being used.
Though when I was wandering around Best Buy last weekend, I saw this 20.1" Viewsonic flatscreen LCD, that was just drop dread gorgeous. It was like a sunray coming down the aisle bekoning me to come closer...

Bah! i'm scaring myself...
Anyways if your looking for a flat CRT, I would recommend my Sony...
Of course I'm wanting an LCD 18.1 screen now...hehe

Actaully the main thing is the computer not the monitor,
here is mine, as you can see ideally suited for gaming.......

I have heard nothing but good things from Viewsonic, but after reading the above I may stick with what I have.

which makes it easier to play with lights on. Make sure you get a good screen too, walls dont work very well. I have my own room too, a den/office, BUT I do not have a wife with infinite patience.
If some one could tell me how to upgrade her to that model I would appreciated it. After 14 years I have become fond of her and would really like to keep her so replacement is not an option.

Hehe ya those stabaliizing lines annoyed me at first, but I got use them and they no longer bother me...
They are on almost on all flat screen CRT's unfortunately. Actually the Viewsonic lines to me were more noticable than the Sony's. The only time you really see them is when you have a very light background color such as white. But other than that I really don't see them unless I'm looking for them...
I may just of got a hobbled PF-790. I've read glowing reports of the monitor and that's why I got it.
Viewsonic does make excellent monitors though.
I really wish stores would put up actually computer desktops with programs and a few games on it that you could fiddle with while browsing the monitor selection. The ones that show nothing but videos is annoying. It's like I want to say "Hey buddy, I'm looking to buy a monitor, not a TV"......

Here's the complete setup, young jedi.
Infocus LP755, sitting on top of my computer hutch. (I rent-otherwise it would be celing mounted)
Projection Screen purchased from Ebay for $50. Was school surplus.
Soundblaster SurroundSound & Altec Lansing sub/satellite system.
The ONE big problem with this is that you will get headaches for about a week. When you play, you don't realize it but your eyes travel all over the place. On a small screen, this is no problem, but on a larger one, your eyes have to pull farther to the sides. I found that I had to actually move my head slightly when I wanted to, for instance, see the passive sensor array, way up in the top corner. Once you get used to it, it's no problem and lots of fun.
I'll find my camera and post a few pics for ya.

Hooch, the Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 22in; CRT DP2070SB-BK is the best damn monitor on the planet. 20" viewable, super clear, but it is huge. You need a very big desk. Not cheap either for a CRT $665 on pricewatch.com. I have the older model from a couple years ago (2020U) and love it.

which makes it easier to play with lights on. Make sure you get a good screen too, walls dont work very well. I have my own room too, a den/office, BUT I do not have a wife with infinite patience.
If some one could tell me how to upgrade her to that model I would appreciated it. After 14 years I have become fond of her and would really like to keep her so replacement is not an option.

I have heard nothing but good things from Viewsonic, but after reading the above I may stick with what I have.
Hehe ya those stabaliizing lines annoyed me at first, but I got use them and they no longer bother me...
They are on almost on all flat screen CRT's unfortunately. Actually the Viewsonic lines to me were more noticable than the Sony's. The only time you really see them is when you have a very light background color such as white. But other than that I really don't see them unless I'm looking for them...
I may just of got a hobbled PF-790. I've read glowing reports of the monitor and that's why I got it.
Viewsonic does make excellent monitors though.
I really wish stores would put up actually computer desktops with programs and a few games on it that you could fiddle with while browsing the monitor selection. The ones that show nothing but videos is annoying. It's like I want to say "Hey buddy, I'm looking to buy a monitor, not a TV"......

Here's the complete setup, young jedi.
Infocus LP755, sitting on top of my computer hutch. (I rent-otherwise it would be celing mounted)
Projection Screen purchased from Ebay for $50. Was school surplus.
Soundblaster SurroundSound & Altec Lansing sub/satellite system.
The ONE big problem with this is that you will get headaches for about a week. When you play, you don't realize it but your eyes travel all over the place. On a small screen, this is no problem, but on a larger one, your eyes have to pull farther to the sides. I found that I had to actually move my head slightly when I wanted to, for instance, see the passive sensor array, way up in the top corner. Once you get used to it, it's no problem and lots of fun.

Hooch, the Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 22in; CRT DP2070SB-BK is the best damn monitor on the planet. 20" viewable, super clear, but it is huge. You need a very big desk. Not cheap either for a CRT $665 on pricewatch.com. I have the older model from a couple years ago (2020U) and love it.
