Title: AI Shiplist selection in missions
Post by: Mog on April 22, 2003, 07:10:05 am
Playing on Reclamation, the usual ships I come up against seem to be Escorts, transports (LTTs) and Scouts (me in DD hull).

Is it possible for a mission script to check to see if there is a carrier present before deploying escorts?

Not without using MagnumMan's shiplist API, and that's considered somewhat slow.
.. some scripters find that it lags enough to cause disconnects.

Sorry Moggy, but the scripts have very limited control over what gets drafted.  Basically you can indicate a range of hull sizes and BPVs and not much more.  Even those specs are pretty hit and miss.  Mags shiplist tools are GREAT for single player, but do seem to contribuite some sizable delay problems at key times.  It's a bummer because with those tools you can use/filter pretty much any ships you like based on any info in the shiplist. <sighs>

Thanks for the replies. Ditto on the sigh.

Dave, I haven't sent you that email yet about our brief discussion last week. I'll try and get a definite answer from the others then you'll receive it.
