Title: scaling ships and ship names. How do I do it???
Post by: Canadian on May 06, 2003, 08:10:52 pm
Hello all:

I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me how to scale the size of the ships ingame (SFC3). I would like to scale down a couple of ships (make em smaller).

Also, can anyone tell me how to give new ships (models I added into the game) shipnames. I cant seem to add in names in the shipnames file in the strings folder, they show ??? for the name ingame. I have exel, word and notepad.

Thanks folks

I pretty much ignore the names the game gives my ships, and use my own names. I change them in the supplies screen in-base.

Don't know about changing the scale of the ships, you would need a 3-D modelling program like milkshape.

Changing the name of the ship you use is pretty easy. What I need to do is create NEW shipnames in the strings folder for new ships I put into the game. For example. I have a new folder in the Models folder. Its the USS Ambassador. I have installed it into the game (did not use it in place of one of the stock game ships). I have both core files edited and am able to get it to work in the game but there is no name for the ship. I dont know how to edit the shipnames.txt file in the Strings folder.
