The portal is a service offered by TUN -- recently renamed "Star Trek Gamers Network."
The place is a stomping ground for some old timers -- Stylsly here is an admin there, and he can help also. Pesty and Castrin pop in, along with Harry Lang and a few others. They have almost 1,400 members and are a mainstay for Trek gamers, modders, whatever ...
This was set up prior to Dynaverse.net launching and has not been used, but is a great resource.
This is how it works.
This is the front page of the portal, part of the GameSpy Network:

Each category is managed by individual teams.
The poster prints a topic in their section, then clicks a "build news" link and the news is sent out on the GameSpy Network, TUN and other sources.
Here's the kicker; the news then also gets printed on your own site in the slotted area the Web designer has placed for it.

That news item was just a topic that was made in our area. Our news hole is large, but it can be sized to anything the Web designer sees fit.
I know Chris and Cueball have had similar news items on their pages at BattleClinic, but with this phbb script, it gets shipped across the network and your own Website simaltaneously. Handy little bugger.
If Cueball or Chris needs moderator status, pipe up. This is there and waiting for you to use.
ThePelican was recently set up there with his section, as was Near Distant Future.
If GAW, SFC2.net or SFC3.net would like a portal set up, let me or one of the STGU moderators know. It's there as an independant service.

Cue, it's your portal.
Just need a admin here to manage it. It's a little more complex that that. You have to post there, and then the news gets posted here and on this network.
I think, actually, you would be the best candidate for this. Sign in over there and I'll give you the admin access needed and try to explain this on TS if you want. Basically, you, as the admin post the news there first, click a link for "build news" and it goes throughout the network and here at the same time. Kortez and Frey are set up over there, but I think you might be more qualified.

I can't write the news for you guys. You write it.Your slot is already set up on your pages. I don't have admin access to the Dynaverse.net link, only Kortez, and he is lazy :P So it needs and admin to write it over there.
Just sign in as Cueball over there and we can get it set up. Like the news item Chris put up yesterday; that would go there then on the GameSpy network.

If you dont wanna use the GameSpy network to get your news out let us know so i can tell ChessMess and the STGU group to close your section down. Everyone else is using it (Harry Lang along with Activison visit that board as well as the STGD's).
The news you post on the forum gets posted on the front page of the site. The news that gets posted here....

Frustrating trying to get someone who has different views to see the value. I explained it the best way I know.
It's free press everywhere at once. But why argue a good thing if they have their own ideas and ways of doing things?

It's the opposite way around Kortez - WaterTiger is trying to help you guys get the Dynaverse.net news posted automatically on OTHER sites, namely the entire TUN network. Not to get Dynaverse.net news posted on the STGD site. That is where the confusion comes from, you are giving him links to put your news on his site, that's not what he was offering. Whenever you use the TUN News System, it isn't just posted on your site, it's posted on the entire TUN Network, including Gamespy.

Your news building system isn't even real time, Ive read several times and clicked where it says "N Comments" only to find that there are more than the number suggests. Go read STCD right now. Says 2 Comments, I count 4 in the thread.
Our system is real time, and is as simple as including 1 line. You can feel free to add it into your builder, wrap it up in what ever way you want, although as you use static files should the content change, your data will no longer be accurate.
